Really like Merilainen. His numbers this year were staggering. 1.71 GAA, a .934 sv% and I believe he had six or seven shutouts in 22 games. I'd have him top 3 in terms of upside on Ottawa's goalie depth chart. I'd put him behind Søgaard and Gustavsson, but ahead of Daccord and Mandolese. The fact that he isn't going to come to North America in the next couple of years is actually really good for Ottawa.

Great finnish goalie prospect. Ottawa has a bit of a mess at the goalie position, so this kid will likely take a future roster spot. Great signing by Dorion.

I’ve heard talk from experts about how Wallstedt should be someone that Ottawa should target at 10th overall this year but pieces like Merilainen really fill out the depth to the point where a pick that high doesn’t need to be used on a goalie
