The Wild were a great team to watch this year. It's absolutely incredible how Kaprisov played a major role in reinventing the identity of this team. Some people in the organization deserve a lot of credit, starting with Guerin and Evason.

I don't think gutting the team that took major strides this year is a positive, even if you do bring in Eichel.

No interest in Rask or Dumba
Fiala & a couple mid-late 1sts isn’t close to enough

So you wouldn’t want a upper end 2nd pair/low end 1st pair guy to play in your top 4 with Dahlin? Fiala is a top line guy that at worst is a top 6 guy, no other team is going to be able to give you 2 bona fide NHLers

If you swap out Dumba for a future, you’ll just get told you need an NHL ready center next. BUF has no consistency in what they want. I think it’s completely arbitrary until the GM and owner actually take a stance. Value wise I think you’re very very close here.

Buffalo wants:
Top 6 scoring forward (e.g. Fiala)
Top 6 center prospect (e.g. Rossi)
First round draft pick
First round draft pick

Their fans have consistently had no interest in defenseman pickups.

However, their fans also haven't adjusted their expectations after Eichel got hurt. So that makes for alot of disagreements on what he's worth.

It will be very interesting to see what deal actually gets done in Buffalo.

The way I look at it, BUF has a few options. Either can go with a heavy futures package (NYR, LAK, etc) or they can go for current NHLers. If they go the heavy futures route they are banking on a 19 year old living up to their potential, if they go the Current NHLers they are at least guaranteed guys that can play at a high level with a few extra shots at the Dart board that is the 2021 Draft. Do people really think Kappo Kako and LAF are going to be THAT much better than Fiala is currently? That’s a stretch. Turcotte or Byfield I get but still it’s a risk. I can see buf going for current NHLers more than futures.

Dumba turns 27 this summer
We’re about to go into another rebuild trading Eichel, Reinhart, etc
And at Dumba’s age, he doesn’t really fit our timeline
Especially when you consider he’s only signed for 2 more years
He’ll be gone before we get good enough to start competing again- so he just doesn’t make sense (for us) to be included as a major piece in the Eichel trade

It’s not as simple a trade as giving us fair value
There’s other factors to consider
I’d imagine we are gonna want YOUNG players/prospects as the main pieces of an Eichel trade
And the 1sts are nice- but the further down they’re projected to be- the less value they have

That’s the way i see it anyways

I think it’ll be mostly futures we “want”
And then we’ll take back an NHLer or 2 for Cap purposes
