From the Edmonton perspective, hard no. 2x 2nds AND retain half on Kassian? Retaining that much is pointless as we would have to pay a similar amount in what we are saving to replace him. May as well just keep him at that point and hope he turns it around. And Georgiev isn't worth a ton IMO, his sv% has been declining every year and he's lost the starting position. I wouldn't give much for a back-up goalie in this market.
Also, after the season Smith just had, he will be signing closer to $1.5-2mil with a bonus structure again. Edmonton has already expressed interest in bringing him back (Holland and Smith apparently meeting in BC this month to hash it out). An offer of $900k isn't going to bring him across the continent.
