so if we move 4 of those scratches to the AHL we would have 3.4 million more in cap space? Subtract McGinn and get one more scorer, like Coleman or Hyman.
Svech-Aho-Hyman/Coleman (good scoring and physical line)
      Hoffman-Tro-Necas (premiere scoring line)
Nino-Staal-Turbo (one of the best third lines in hockey)
      Marty-Lorentz-Fast (great 4th line group)

I would switch Oleksiak with Bean to create that shutdown pair for match up purposes. I dont think Hak has the skating to be a defender that can match up with top lines.

That would be a pretty nasty group top to bottom.

I actually like the forward core, well balanced.

Defensively, Bean got eaten alive on the 3rd pairing. Someone like Hamonic or Martinez on the 2nd pairing instead of Oleksiak on the 3rd would make more sense.

Hamonic doesn’t make more sense. He is great a blocking shots but also is injured a lot. Martinez will cost too much and be too old at the end of the deal for it to make sense either. Pass

Might as well keep Skjei if we are going to sign Martinez to replace him.

I don’t think Devils would have as much interest in Paquette/Foegele as they would in a defenseman, if Canes are moving one to make space for Hamilton contract.

I don't think they would either, but as I said, it's a move to any team. I just sent them to the devils because they have plenty of cap space.

I like this idea a lot. Would prefer to keep mcginn over marty but not sure if that would save enough money to grab one of the guys you mentioned. Could see swapping bean and olek and you can do that at some point in the season if Bean isn’t showing improvement. I think a full regular offseason working with the staff will really help Bean - put on some extra weight and muscle and get some more games under his belt and you could have a great long term second pairing. Def have risk there and who knows if Bean can improve and be consistent but having Olek as insurance for second pairing is good and then you can try to make a mid season move for a third pair guy if Bean completely flips.
