Now, based on what fanbase you are apart of, you may have different opinions on this trade. Personally as a leafs fan, i think this is fair. You might be seeing Marners name Sandin and a First, and scream that I overpaid. But, i want to remind you, that you are getting Kuemper at 50 percent, who has been above average middle of the pack of goaltenders around the league. To get him at 50 percent, would be sick, and Campbell and Kuemper would be a sick cheap tandem. To continue on the Toronto prospective, you also get Garlands rights. I signed him to a 6 year deal at 5.5 mil. I think this is exactly what he should get. He can keep up with our big guys, and he isn't a soft player either, for a smaller guy. And finally, the big piece, Chychrun. Now, i have had many experiences with coyotes fans on chychrun telling me that hes untouchable and all that. But, for this price, i think it would be smart to do this. You are essentially getting a replacement for him in Sandin, who is gifted, as a leaf fan, trust me, hes special. From a leaf perspective, he has a cheap contract, with term. I can see why Arizona values him. For the leafs, he is your future on the left side.
Now for the Arizona perspective. First off, idk how that hole Marner thing works with his contract, but apparently most of his money will be paid. I dont know the exact number, but he will be cheaper, so keep that in mind. He was also top 5 in scoring this year. And for a team like Arizona, he could bring up so many players numbers, making them more tradable and have more value. Also, Keller Dvorak Marner is pretty sick eh. And if u want to trade Dvorak give em one year on that line, his numbers will go up like crazy, and u will easily get a first for him. And continue along with getting back young players and picks. Not to mention, you get a first in the deal already. Plus, you get a top 10 D prospect in the NHL in Sandin. That return seems very valuable. So to recap: You get Marner at a cheaper cap hit then hes already making, You get get a sick top line. And Marner brings everyones numbers up, making them more valuable trading assets. Plus a top prospect and a pick.
Just Marner for those 3 I would say no. Marner has so much potential and already finished top 5 in scoring.
Fair. Absolutely i agree, However, i truly don't think we can win anything with his contract. Its not his or Dubas' fault. But i think they should explore this. Tons if value for each team.

Olesiak isn't worth 3.5m, I know in LeafLand other teams players seems so good. Just keep 3m combined in Engvall, Mikheyev or Holl.
Bunting and Goodrow could likely get better deals elsewhere. Kinda weak at centre still.

And Chychrun was a top 10 defenceman in the league on a WAY better contract and still has upside. I don't see how it's even remotely plausible to say Marner is worth more than all 3. He's not even worth Chychrun + Garland OR Kuemper on his own.

True, i kinda regret the Hamilton signing now. I would rather use that 8 mil to get a third line center and get a 22 man roster.
