Actually, I think it would be pretty fair to assume that one of Drysdale or Zegras be included in any deal with Anaheim.

There may be some injury concerns but, its still Jack Eichel. Big, strong, scoring top line franchise centres don't grow on trees.

I don't think that asking for one of those two blue chippers would be out of the question at all and the Sabres would be justified in doing so.

You dont get that much out of ANA either. Take out Terry Dotsal and the second and thats the ceiling of what Eichel returns. His injury lowers his value, and if ANA isnt on the same page as him surgery wise it gets even lower

Ducks can take on Eichel without trading cap back, Henrique has positive value in an Eichel deal not negative

I don't disagree that Buf would be asking for one of them, I just don't know how it would make any sense for the Ducks to do it? Like, adding Eichel would be fun and all, but thinking that moving the farm for him will somehow lift you from 2nd worst in the league to anything even close to competitive is laughable. Anaheim assumes wayyyy too much risk here.

why would Anaheim even consider trading for Eichel?
it's not like they are an Eichel away from contending. not to mention that any trade for Eichel will only set them further behind.
i agree that Anaheim has the assets for an Eichel trade, just don't agree that it makes sense for them at this point.

Beniers over Eklund and Wallstedt over MacTavish.

As for the trade returns? They are very underwhelming.

Thats fair, and so they should. Any Eichel trade would have to come with either the assurance that he is healthy enough to play or a very pre-agreed upon understanding of recovery time after surgery to properly use LTIR.

If the Sabres asked for Drysdale + Henrique (for salary purposes) + The 3rd overall pick.... Would the ducks do it?

I think that would be a very fair return for Buffalo IF the Ducks know exactly what they are getting in Eichel.

so comtois henrique and a 1st

I'd say the most I see ANA giving up would be Comtois + Henrique + 2021 3OA + Jacob Perreault

I just dont see ANA giving up more than that, they arent a player away, I think they're 2ish years away from selling the farm for a player.

I think BUF gets better returns from Minny, CBJ (3 firsts this draft), LAK. Those teams are in a better position than ANA to add an Eichel type player

If this were a year in the future, I'd absolutely consider it. Honestly, it's like Zegras though. If we were an Eichel away from being competitive, I would absolutely consider trading him. But, we're not, and won't be for at least 2 years. I just think it's extremely short sighted to start moving picks and prospects when (at best) this moves you from 2nd worst to 9th-10th worst. Plus, even if you look past the injury stuff, what's to say Jack doesn't show up and say "Welp...you guys also suck...I'm going to demand a trade, but now I have the power of my NMC, which is going to absolutely f*ck you smile"

Agreed. A new coach, plus somehow pairing Eichel/Laine together is a good way to try to drum up some ticket sales in CLB.

Yeah Devs not giving a player who is just cracking the lineup. We're interested but not at that price, especially if we are taking the whole salary

I dont even seeing Perreault being added to this deal. I could see them adding in Tracy to the deal.

Just a guess it would be Comtois, Henrique, 2021 first and Tracy/Thrun.

Ducks really dont have to throw henrique in for Cap, cause they have Cap space already. And you cant call henrique a "Cap dump" He is versitle and is a great leader. he performed very well in the worlds. His salary may be a tad inflated. But he was on pace for 30 goals the year before and would have hit it if not for the shut down.
