If our players were like Mackinnon and the league was mind controlled by me

Created by: RussianRangers9
Team: 2022-23 New York Rangers
Initial Creation Date: Jun. 16, 2021
Published: Jun. 16, 2021
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
If we get Mika and Fox to take a lower amount of money to stay with the Rangers, (like Mackinnon in Colorado), we will be able to compete for more cups and compete for longer. Also to entice them, we could have Dolan give them shares of MSG so they can be part owners or give signing incentives. Kakko and Kravtsov don't have much production to entice huge deals so bridge deals make sense for them, around what a Chytil bridge would cost (2-3 mil for 3 years).

So one thing with the Mackinnon contract everyone forgets he was overpaid at the time. He was making 6.3 million in 2016 for 60 points. Yea he turned into a superstar and now he outplays that contract but at the time they overpaid him.

Tbh he’s a one the contracts and reason for the high salary cap expenditure for rookies of their RFA deal. Then Draisatil and Toronto did with their core 3.

MacK didn't take a discount. He was paid fairly at the time.

Lol what? Did Anaheim just trade down twelve spots for nothing? I'm confused on that draft trade

yup....a block of them all signed within a few days around he same 6m aav in MacKinnon Scheifele Monahan and Gaudreau.
Happens every offseason, a block of high profile positional RFAs hold out and them all set the market for one another
