I think I need some clarity on this but I thought a 4 year deal would walk Hughes (and Petey) right to UFA

I think Hughes is 5 years to UFA, which is why I went 4 so the team has the extra year.

the point you're missing with the TB trade is they need the RD more than vancover so this is a no. Foote is protectedgoing 4x4 4 NMC's plus cirelli, point, sergechev, cernak, Foote

TBH this is actually kind of just an example. There are potentially other options out there. Rathbone is probably the best trade-able player we have right now to upgrade RHD because he doesn't require a protection slot.

Interesting! I made a few proposals awhile back like this and was told I was an idiot. I guess Sabres are now poised to do the full reset though.

let seattle take who they are going to take, no need to add picks or players

no need to trade rathbone, he is what this team needs, use the 2nd for roussel and add to a Tampa trade.

Edler wont be back.

Yeah I don't see any reason Tampa wouldn't protect Cernak. Foote I guess because he's lower on the depth chart and could potentially be lost for nothing but I see your point.

The value is probably about right but I'm not convinced Reinhart would be worth it. He's a good player but don't want to move a top-10 pick and commit 6M+ in cap space to him long term.

The Tampa deal is interesting value wise but they already have their LD set. I also would rather wait until next year to maybe trade Rathbone, let's see what he looks like first.

I think dumping a contact in Expansion is a necessary move to be honest. If we're going to lose Lind/Gadjovich/Motte anyways, might as well get some cap space as well. If I were Seattle I would definitely take Motte though; great role player to establish an identity, cheap and could be moved at the deadline for a nice return.

Yeah I like Reinhart a lot. I think it would push this team forward wise over the hump. My feeling is just in this specific draft it's a bit more of a crapshoot so the time to make a move like this is now. However we can't do it without cap room.

Yeah I picked Tampa because I thought of Foote, but they could also look at guys like Fabbro. I just think we need to upgrade RHD somehow, there is essentially no one good in FA and Rathbone doesn't need protection so I could see a move like this being possible. Love Rathbone though.

Cap Dump to Seattle I also agree is potentially necessary if they actually want to improve the team. The chances whoever the Kraken take even play for the team is super low, our RFAs require waivers, and there is no actual roster players they would want. It honestly looks like their best bet would be to take a UFA w/ negotiating rights from us. If they can get a pick but need to take some cap maybe its worth it.

I agree that the 9th OA should be in play if a deal makes sense, I just don't like Reinhart as much as you I guess. Landing a strong defenseman, RW or C would improve the team considerably.

I've explored Tampa as a trade partner a lot. I think the deal that makes sense is Johnson + 1st + a young player like Joseph or Stephens. Nothing else really works unless we pay for someone like Killorn.

If Beagle is back it really complicates things. I really hate buying players out; I'd rather pay to move them or just sit on them rather than create dead cap space over multiple years. The most logical buyout candidate is Holtby, but then we need to bring in another goalie with some of those savings anyways. I really hope we aren't needlessly aggressive and are willing to wait it out for one more year, but management has indicated otherwise.
