Foundational Change 2021-2022

Description
Chris Johnston said recently that foundational change outside the core four is happening in Toronto. He also said it is more than likely that Zach Hyman is done as a Maple Leaf. Taking that into consideration and Kerfoot being the odd man out in the expansion draft the Leafs have 16 million dollars to make some moves. I think they bring back Galch, Spezza and Foligno to team friendly deals and add Perry to fill in the bottom lines and sign Oleksiak as a plug and play D man. They also need to address that second goalie spot and either Ullmark or Mrazek can be signed to round out the tandem with Campbell. I think foundational change alludes to Rielly being traded. He has the highest trade value and is a UFA at the end of the 21/22 season. Possible destinations include his hometown Vancouver or Philadelphia. Vancouver seems less likely as the list of expendable top 6 forwards and the possibility of getting a 1st this year are low. Philadelphia seems more reasonable especially if they are unable to acquire Seth Jones. Lastly, I do not think Dubas trades the bulk of his prospect pool but in a "win now" mentality it is more than possible, especially if the package is adequate. In the Dallas deal the leafs get 3rd line center stability in Hintz and yet another scoring option in Pavelski. Overall a more complete top 6 and well balanced bottom 6 in exchange for a slight drop off on defense in terms of scoring input but overall more defensively minded.

Konecny AND a 1st for Rielly (who the Flyers don't need)? The first should be going to Philly and they would still decline.

That will not get you Hintz, if we ask for Roope they ask for Nylander.

I have no idea how Konecny fits as a trade, we have nothing they want expect Marner or Nylander 🤷‍♂️. There LD is already crowded

As nice as it would be to get the 2nd Robertson brother, Hintz was on pace for an 86 point season in a normal year.

It really becomes production vs. projection. Robertson & Liljegren both could be studs in the NHL, but until there’s some kind of experience under their belt, Dallas isn’t going to be able to part with arguably their best forward.

Even if Philly doesn't get Jones or Hamilton we are not trading for Rielly and giving up that much for him.

PHILLY DOES NOT NEED LHD

They will most likely target Jones as a trade, Not Riley

Ffs stop with these Hintz deals. He’s one of our most untouchable players, he was on a 86 point pace with a major injury while being on a steal of a contract. Also Oleksiak isn’t taking a pay cut.

Jones, Ellis, Hamilton in FA, etc. Even outside the box players we would acquire before Rielly would be Klingberg, Dumba, Manson, etc.
