If you added a conditional first-round pick if Tarasenko doesn't play 50% of his remaining games, it might be closer to fair.

Thomas is the only thing of real interest here for Calgary and even his value isn't extremely high. Dunn is overrated and Sanford is replaceable. Tank is damaged goods, way too many question marks on him

All I'm gonna say is trading away Thomas to get Tkachuk kills the point (or dream scenario, whatever you want to call it), which would be to play them together.

Tkachuk, Matthew

Dunn, Vince [RFA Rights]
Thomas, Robert [RFA Rights]
Sanford, Zachary [RFA Rights]
Tarasenko, Vladimir

This is silly

You're offering a guy who's only played 34 of the last 127 games over two seasons now, due to injury, two players who had bad seasons on a team that was good enough to qualify for the playoffs, and a defenceman who's been on the block for most of the season, if not all. This is scraps and it's for a 23 year old premier winger.

Dunn wasn't actually on the trade block. That was a rumor and never substantiated.

I agree, but it's either Thomas or Kyrou and I think Kyrou is untouchable right now. Thomas is being buried on the 3rd line right now if he is going to play center. This is more a reply to @Binningtons_Nose and his bad Tkachuk trade

And Tkachuk could easily walk in 2 years, especially at the pace Calgary is going.

So your argument is, trade him for scraps today because he might walk in two years?

It’s exactly scraps, it’s players that don’t fit your team. I can do the same thing with Ottawa trading for Eichel. I start with Colin White because he’s not needed if the team has Eichel, Norris, and Pinto. I can add prospects that can be spared because the Sens have so many, and end up with a package that looks like decent players, but they’re just the players there’s no room for, and that makes them scraps. Yes they still have value, but you’re not trading anyone that you’re excited to keep, the same way I’m not offering Stützle or Batherson or Tkachuk. Just because they have value, doesn’t change that they are the scraps left over after you build your team with the acquired player.

Exactly in the long run just way two years and we can get him as a UFA. Voila

Honest question for the Blues fans here ( Seeing Dunn is been made available by the Blues) I'm looking for non-biased answers.

What is Dunn's true value here?

Why was he benched/scratched so much? ( He's got potential from his stats)

Dunn's smaller, skates well, handles above avg for a defenseman, isn't afraid to drop the gloves or hit, but tends to give the puck away in horrible situations and is altogether a little careless with the puck. Also seems to lack an overall sense of where he needs to be, when to pinch, when to clear out the front of the net, etc. Above average offensively, below or close to average defensively. Bottom pairing dman on a contending team.

I'm not sure what his value is, but that should give you an idea.

I appreciate that! Great report on Dunn.

Thanks.
