worst case they can trade him to a team he'll sign with if he won't sign long term. And I feel like tehy'd talk to him to see if he's interested in OTT long term before trading for him. But he's a Canadian guy and would be on an up and coming soon-to-be stacked Canadian team so I can't see him leaving

Definitely think keeping pick 10 is the right call. McTavish or Lucius should be available at 10 and both would be great fits in our top 6 long term, and if they aren’t then a more valuable prospect will be. I wouldn’t hate Reinhart though, if we can get him locked up 8 yrs 6mil aav (saw an article that compared him to William Karlsson, his deal was 8x5.9) that would be a good trade target. 2022 top 10 protected 1st + Jarventie + Crookshank/3rd or something for Reinhart would be fine in that case, but if we don’t have an assurance that he’d resign his price goes down as a potential 1 year rental imo.

But they wouldn't get the same return as what they give up. I usually say sign and trades aren't realistic, but in Reinharts case....on a last place team and isn't resigning (he'll take a qualifying offer) so he is UFA next summer, so a sign and trade is possible even likely. So Reinhart can kinda dictate where he wants to sign long term. So without a sign and trade, I don't think Reinhart's trade value is that high

This team start to look good and I am Habs fan. Value is somehow heavy, but I can understand. Sens looks industrious that way!

Reinhart is coming off of a career year. He is a perennial 60 point scorer, and a trade within the division should cost more just because it’s in the division. My guess is the only way Ottawa make this deal is if they thought they could get him to sign an extension. If you’re not giving up the 10th overall pick you’re giving up one of your better prospects, not some mid range guy or career AHLer I’ve never heard of.

Obviously Ottawa wouldn't make the trade if they weren't given any indication he'd sign long term in Ottawa
