Reinhart and 3C

Description
Ideally they can move a contract out to improve the D a bit. But ultimately I don't this dcore is any worse than the one they iced last season.

Canucks fans would hate this but I honestly wouldn't hate bringing Gudbranson back as cheap depth as well. He could potentially be a decent partner for Hughes for a season.

I like it. I think we could go with a stopgap 3C this year though. A guy like Soderberg maybe.

I also think we could probably get Hamonic and Edler back for ~3m.

I don’t think our D was actually as bad as it looked last year. Our horrendous bottom 6 ensured they were completely caved in all game

We could go with a stop gap 3C but I'd rather solve that spot for the long-term (hopefully) if you can get McLeod for something similar to this.

If Edler and Hamonic come back for similar money to this then I'd be fine with that as well though I prefer McCabe over Edler. McCabe is solid and the only reason he might come this cheap is the question marks after knee surgery and hardly playing for 18 months.

This is good stuff Mediumyeet. I think the Hughes and Pettersson deals are just a touch wishful thinking but hopefully not by much. Either way, a few guys on this roster would end up in Abby out of sheer numbers making the math work anyway. I'd be honestly quite happy if this is how we lined up next year.

Ya Petey could go up by 250k. Only reason I've got Hughes so cheap is I went 2yrs. I have a feeling they're going to struggle on coming to an agreement at 4yr or 6yr team and 5yr should be an absolute no go for the nucks.

Thought process on 2yrs it allows them to sign Hughes long term before Petey. I think Petey signing long term first could inflate Hughes contract too much.

You’d have to add another pretty good asset to that Reinhart trade if you want to make it work. Not to mention you’re adding at least $1 million to the contract you gave him, he’s not signing long term for less than $7 million anywhere.

Yup, agree all. Hope this is the case. I fear that CAA is going to put Jimbo through the wash. Fingers crossed

We will see TJM, we will see. In a vacuum, I'd agree with you. He's a damn good player. BUT, he's from here and he wants to come here. Buffalo have struggled to leverage for their players. You would have thought Hall with retained salary would get you at least into the first round, for example.

I know he goes for more on here typically but I think in reality 9th OA gets it done if Canucks are willing to pull the trigger.

I think Reinhart would probably sign 6 yrs at 6.75. I think going to 8 years could bring the AAV down from 6.75. but if need be I'd go 6.75x6 and I think that gets it done.

He's done well so far on RFA deals so heres to hoping it continues. But I'm with you, the whole situation makes me nervous.

Not enough for Sam

The hope would be that 9oa turns into a player as good as Reinhart…. but that’s VERY FAR from proven
You’d need to add another piece imo

Except Hall said he’d “only go to Boston”
Reinhart doesn’t have any sort of NTC

I disagree. I think 9OA gets it done if the Canucks are willing to pull the trigger. Buffalo doesn't have a lot of leverage.

We don’t need “a lot of leverage”
There’s MANY teams out there interested in Reinhart
YOU have to beat them with the best bid

9oa in a weak draft is unlikely to be the winning bid imo

I agree with you, I should be more clear. I just think it's not completely out of the realm of possibility. I've seen proposals where Van adds a 2nd, Lind, and Eriksson and I think that actually might work better for both sides. Maybe Roussel or Holtby instead.

Who knows?
I guess we’ll see…. bc it’s like 90% (my guess) at this point that both Eichel & Reinhart are traded

Agree to everything here except the weak draft part. I think it's an average draft with plenty of hidden gems but no franchise players at the top end. You're right, I don't think anyone outside of maybe Berniers can end up as good as Sam. Mayyybe Eklund.

That's where I disagree. I don't think they're going to get a better offer than that especially with reports that he wants to play out west. That limits the number of teams that will be confident they can get an extension done. 9th or 10th overall is the end of the basically consensus top tier of players in this draft. I don't think anyone is going to offer a prospect that has more value than a 9th overall pick.

To be fair I'd easily add Lind or Gadjovich or MacEwen or something like that to the deal I just don't think it will need that in reality.

We need ready to play D on both sides and Woo or Rathbone would have to be on this list. We are not trading Wood most likely so its probably not worth discussing
