how does that help Vegas? Fluery has 1 more year at 7m and Kuznetsov is 4 more at 7.8m, Kuznetsov contract is by far much worse than Fluerys

So they add cap and lose a good prospect in Krebs? This hurts them cap wise even more

Because Kuz is a #1C. The contract he's on is good and keeps them stable for 4 more years.

Hes not a 1C, its pretty well document on how big of a disappointment he has been lately and the starts of a big decline for him

No one is taking on a 7.8m contract in a flat cap era, especially a team with cap troubles already in Vegas. That contract would be impossible to move right now

Yeah...Kuzy isn't a #1 C, and this absolutely handcuffs them on future deals in 2022 for Glass, 75% of their d-core, a backup goalie, etc., etc....

LOL I love how people think he's declining for some reason all because he got Covid twice?

Over the last 3 seasons among starting centers at 5v5/60:
-8th in primary assists
-14th in points

At all strengths/60:
-8th in primary assists
-18th in points

So yea he isn't declining at all. And he put up those points with 2 season under Reirden (who wasn't a good coach) and this last season where he got Covid twice. His contract is easily movable but don't think Caps do it unless they get something good in return.

3 season to prop up his stats to look better? Its a wht have you done for me lately league, and he hasnt been good
If he is as good as you claim he would be, Washington fans wouldnt desperately trying to trade him in every roster build of theirs. His contract is bad and no one wants 7.8m adn 4 year term for guy coming off his poor season

This past season among starting centers at 5v5/60:
-10th in primary assists
-18th in points

At all strengths/60:
-11th in primary assists
-27th in points

So yeah definitely not coming off a "poor season". Still a #1 center. And that was with having Covid twice.

Only reason people are trying to trade Kuz is because it's fun to mess around with it. BMac already said Kuz is still here for the future unless it's a great trade. I don't want to trade him but it's fun to mess around to see what kind of return would be.

And that mindset will get you 0 cups. Go ahead and pay the guys who WERE good rather than the guys that WILL be and ARE good.

We can keep Kuznetsov easily. And we probably will. And when he ends up a point per game player in a full healthy season under Laviolette, I'll be the first to remind everyone how wrong they were.
