I like the idea of trading Kerfoot for a pick, rather than losing him to Seattle for nothing.

The Leafs would protect Holl. Dermott is most likely to be claimed.

If you get AA you will have to qualify him which may cost upto or beyond $2M because he has had a 30 goal year. I don't think he is getting qualified by the Kings so you can likely get him free if he doesn't take whatever low ball offer the Kings give him in lieu of a legitimate qualifying offer.

My line of thought was, let Holl walk to Seattle therefor you can create a bit more cap space to sign other FA. Especially since in this projection the Leafs signed Hamilton. Holl at best would be a 3rd pairing guy.

I was thinking more about clearing cap space than anything. You're right though you can probably get AA on the open market. Would still love him in Toronto as a 3rd liner regardless.

Why not? Look at what other rental D go for. Especially at the deadline.

He's not the kind of defenseman Winnipeg needs and they can't afford to re-sign him. The Jets would be better off spending those assets on a defenseman type they need and have a chance to re-sign long term.

Reilly is a #2 D on any team. Not sure why Winnipeg wouldn't try to resign him if they acquired him. They had a great team this year. Just needed more D depth.

Rielly is not the type of defenseman Winnipeg needs. He's not big or physical or good defensively. The Jets have Pionk who does everything Rielly does plus is physical. It's not that they Jets wouldn't try to sign Rielly it's that he would be too expensive. And Rielly won't waive for Winnipeg anyways.
