I'm not sure Eichel in his current state gets Zegras straight up...

Both teams decline

Sabres won't retain and Anaheim won't trade Zegras

I think Anaheim is slightly behind LA in their rebuild.

I don't think it makes sense for LA to land Eichel, so in the same breath, it makes even less sense for ANA IMO.

Granted, my job isn't on the line like some of the GM's in the league.

Surprisingly one of the least realistic Eichel trades. Just wouldn’t happen for either team.

Because he's so likely to be a top 10 player in the league like Eichel. People who think this way are really fooling themselves.

Also, Buffalo declines. They are not retaining.

What’s with Sabres fans and being dicks? So what Zegras doesn’t pan out to be a top 10 player. Maybe we don’t need a top ten player. Maybe we just need a player who plays with heart. Sabres fans seriously need to ****ing chill on here. We get it you want a lot, but stop making assholes of yourselves.

Let’s suppose you love the ducks. Imagine your ownership tells you to be prepared for suffering. They start selling off all pieces, and you have to watch garbage and slop for an entire year. The organization tells you to suffer now, but find hope in the guys they will draft. You don’t see those players this year, so the next year you are once again in last place and are the laughing stock of the league…. All in the name of the #1 center your team so desperately covets. After 2 years of suck, you finally land that marquee, franchise changing player to build around. You and all your friends have some glimmer of excitement. Now, you still suck because he’s the only piece for the moment. That’s 3 years of sucking. But during the 4th year of being one of the worst teams, that franchise player looks to be worth the trouble. He’s playing against other teams top lines and scoring over a point per game. The next year you name him captain at a young age. The rest of your team still sucks, but at least you have him. Now that you’ve been horrible for 5 years now, and just when your franchise changer starts really playing elite hockey, your organization decides they are going to trade him. After all that suffering, you will be back to square one, ready to do it all over again. Then you go onto capfriendly and see all the vultures offering B level prospects and garbage for the blue chip player who was once your only glimmer of hope. So yeah, Sabres fans are being dicks at the moment, and you know what, we have a right to be. Just let us be lol
