I wish but I think its not him. Ekblad had a Norris worthy season before his injury

Assuming you're referring to his Steve Dangle Show thing? Didn't he specifically mention it was a forward? Also he said a non playoff American team, not just "didn't play in the playoffs".

Also even with an extension that deal is horrific for Florida. Ekblad is two years younger than Reilly and he's twice the player he is.

Yes the Dangle podcast and the Athletic podcast. If he said it was a forward then yeah Im way off. I thought he just said it was a player who didnt make the playoffs, played for an american team, had term and was a name that could create buzz. As far as Rielly vs. Ekblad i think they are quite similar Ekblad certainly isnt 2 times the player Rielly is

Nah man, if Ekblad continues from where he left off this year there's only one D-man in the league that can be considered an upgrade over him and that's Hedman.

Just doesn't make sense for a playoff team to regress this much.

He is. Ekblad was absolutely insane this year. Miles ahead Rielly at the moment. Also RHD in general is the more valuable position since there's smaller amount of them compared to LHDs.

I’m late to this party, but US based, non playoff team, forward, with a Toronto name buzz? Tie Domi, er, Max Domi

Zero chance. Ekblad looked like he was about to win a Norris well only Hedman wins those so top 3 for sure. Reilly was once your top d man now he’s being traded this off season cause muzzin fills his spot just fine.

I disagree about Ekblad being the 2nd best Dman in the league, thats a major stretch. He was having a good season yes, but Morgan Rielly has had better seasons than the one that Ekblad was just coming off of. Their numbers are very similar. 1 dman has all eyes on him in a big market and gets either blown up to be the best dman in the league or talked about like hes worthless.

This season he was up there. He’s legit turned into a 20 goal 40 plus assist guy who’s very stout on d. He’s signed long term and much more valuable that Reilly. Reilly hasn’t been that good or healthy in a couple seasons or Toronto would of locked him up bot try and trade him.

Im not sure hes a 20 goal 40 assist guy, hes never done either before . Rielly has been a top 2 dman, with a few shortcomings on the defensive side of the puck, same as Ekblad. As far as health is concerned, 1 of these players is coming off of a season ending injury

Sorry he scores 15-18 goals a year besides last year. And he got hurt on a fluke injury. And has been healthy most of his career. It won’t ever happen, panthers won’t trade him unless it’s one for one for matthews and no ones doing that.
