3.5M for 2 more years for a 4th line player on a rebuild will cost you more. Throw timmins in the deal or a 2nd + 3rd with nothing coming back

Compher's contract is backloaded and he's not really useful for Detroit.

I'd decline that offer.

I could see that but with there rebuild for a few more years they wouldn’t mind just getting a decent pick back. But I could see my Avs adding a prospect into it

What the... What is going on with that Compher deal? He would be 6th in scoring on Detroit? I'm sure a team will send picks to add Compher. Am I crazy? Are we seeing the same player?

He’s not worth this cap plain and simple. Detroit can add someone of his caliber for cheaper via FA nor is he a need.

Compher isn’t a cap dump. Keep dreaming.

Compher isn’t a cap dump, the Avs aren’t doing that.
Jones is massively overrated and that is a massive over pay that creates a short term hole at 2C.
NJ isn’t doing that.
You just let Jost their top PK and an RFA walk, wth?
Literally you made the team appreciably more expensive, more cap strapped and not as good if they had done nothing. Why do people think they need to add someone like Jones when they will add Byram internally as a top 4.

That is far short of what it would take to acquire Jones.

So Avs protect MacKinnon, Landeskog, Rantanen, Makar, Girard, Toews, Johnson and Jones (3 F, 5 D)?

And why are the Devils adding a pick to Kuokkanen to get Donskoi? It should be other way around.

He's a cap dump to the red wings. The guy makes 3.5M In a flat cap era where teams are struggling to stay below the salary cap. Hate to tell you this but for that salary for 2 more years and the fact he play on the 4th line makes him a cap dump.

He would be far, far from a 4th liner on Detroit. If you can get him for a late pick, you've made your team better. Whatever the case, I'm pretty confident no one is about to GET a pick for adding compher. If it happens, I'll gladly log off haha

He'd be 7th, Fabbri had the same goals and assists but in 18 less games. Plus Compher points totals would take a hit playing in Detroit but it would be dumb not to accept this trade. I agree that trade is really bad for Colorado.

I'd accept that trade because it's turning a 5th in to a 3rd. Compher's cap hit is $3.5M for 1 season. But I have a hard time believing that Colorado would prepose this trade in the first place.

Let’s not alter reality here. He is a guy that is a 30pt scorer in a full season, plays special teams, plays all 3 forward positions, can play up in a pinch. He’d be at worst the 7th best forward on the Wings. You don’t want him, but don’t pretend he is a cap dump because if he is over half of the league is.

Bro we are rebuilding, 7th leading scorer on Detroit means absolutely nothing. This guy has. 3.5M cap hit .avs have to sign, landeskog and replace Saad. If you want to dump him to wings, it will cost you. We are not in the market to take mediocre players that does nothing for our rebuild and has a big contract. If you send him to a contending team fine, the wings your payout end of story. Look at yzermans moves,.this isn't it pal

A late third to early 5th doesn’t have too much value to me and I’d rather utilize that cap with dumps or value players. Just takes another bottom six spot which we have in spades.

Maybe that’s the wings problem. They think guys that can help are cap dumps but are willing to sit on cap space. That’s your prerogative, forget that he is a Michigan kid, comes from a winning team, and literally makes the wings better. But sure he is a cap dump to them, got it.

I see you point and it is a very valid point but is Yzerman going to take any cap dumps? Who knows maybe he comes in and plays well and wants to stay. Maybe he can play center in Detroit with some of the wingers we have it shouldn't be hard to find a center now Veleno might but does he start the season in Detroit. Bringing in Tyler Johnson I think BILLY12BOB was the only one besides me who liked that idea. A lot of Detroit fans here shoot things down right away and I was there as well until recently but I'm trying to play devils advocate more often we do need a #2C that can provide some offense. With Compher it's one season if it doesn't work out we aren't stuck with him and if he doesn't want to stay we at least up graded an early 5th to a late 3rd.

That’s what I was thinking. They know they’re rebuilding why not take a bit of salary and a easy pick.
