Detroit Red Wings 2023-2024

Created by: Lancebmx
Team: 2023-24 Detroit Red Wings
Initial Creation Date: Jun. 18, 2021
Published: Jun. 18, 2021
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
My continuation for the red wings from my 21-22 and my 22-23 rosters. If trades don't make sense just go back and look at them.
I feel like with things going back to normality I gave the salary cap a slight bump up from 81500000 to 83000000. Not sure if it will be a thing then but here's hoping.
The Seattle, Carolina, Tampa Bay, St. Louis and Vancouver trades were 2021 off season.
The Toronto and Edmonton trades were done in the 2022 off season.
2021 draft I picked Eklund and Cossa in the first round. I didn't even bother getting into the next rounds as I haven't looked that far into the draft yet.
2022 draft is really impossible to say where the team lands, I would be expecting so be battling for a playoff spot but coming up short.
In the 2022 off season I threw a bunch of money at barkov although I expect he doesn't hit free agency.
2023 off season I reup Bernier for one more year, sign my captain Larkin to a long term extension. I give slight raises to Erne, Rasmussen said Lindstrom with a bit of term for Erne. I go after Werenski in free agency having him come play for his home team.
In expecting McIsaac to make the team and expecting Chowlowski to fall off, I still sign him to a cheap one year deal to try and redeem himself though.
Come trade deadline time if we aren't in a playoff spot I would be expecting to trade a forward or two to make room for some of the youth ready to make an impact on the team. If we are in a playoff spot I would probably just stand pat, unless I could get a big name like Toews or Kane, someone impactful.
I feel like this team, if goaltending stays good, could contend for a few years to come. Should be enough good young talent to compete for jobs that trading away the odd veteran shouldn't be too much of an issue if needed.

There is no way in hell that Yzerman trades 2 2nd round picks WHEN THE TEAM IS REBUILDING, for Vince Dunn, after his season I’d honestly even hesitate to trade one 2nd for him

Definitely could be a risk, most people don't think it's enough for him, I think a second and fourth but I got roasted for that.

Just do what you think is fair. You can’t please them all.

It's not so bad if you get a bunch of seconds for taking cap dumps.

Blues would probably agree to this for Dunn.
