He's younger, more cost controlled, and has put up nearly identical offensive underlying metrics and better raw production totals than Ghost over the last 2 seasons. St. Louis isn't going to take Ghosts contract and a 3rd for him

They are very similar players and using that, nobody would sign Ghost to what he currently gets paid so why would they sign Dunn to something similar?

Ekholm could be gone next year and Sanheim has played RD many times.

Ekholm is more likely to be re-signed at this point -- and if Ekholm does end up leaving in a year, then they aren't trading Ellis.

As I said above, they are basically the same player. Adding a 3rd for age differential/possible contract differential.

Flames very very very easily decline, konecny has only ever had more than 60 points once and gaudreau has 5 times. Flames might consider it if gaudreau wasn’t gonna re-sign ( they probably still wouldn’t) but since gaudreau is gonna re-sign the flames very easily decline

Doesn't matter if he will...without an extension you don't get full price.

Flames aren't taking a clear downgrade and we're not worried about Gaudreau not re-signing.

One player is a 24 y/o RFA still with upside.
One went unclaimed on waivers this season.

They are not the same player.

The stats say otherwise. Ghost's upside is a .84 pt/g season. Hard to claim Dunn has upside when he hasn't shown that. He has shown that he is a 25-35 pt guy. Ghost is basically a 35 pt guy every year at minimum.

Gaudreau has said he wants to extend this summer, if he does Gaudreau is way more valuable

Not the same player and even if they were (which again they aren't) your basically telling the blues to lock in on Gots contract as opposed to the one they will put in front of Dunn. Not only that but the only reason Dunn is being looked at for trades is because of the expansion draft. This just gives us another D we can't protect. The whole trade makes zero sense for STL
