How high do you have to be to believe Dallas accepts that?

It’s not like Heiskanen’s main position is LD, he’s kind of left handed. Also the value is way off, the most I’d give you for Rielly is a first. Elite young dman > A soon to be UFA dman

While I'm sure it'll be "leafs fanboying," that's two good prospects plus Rielly who everyone seems to think is ****, but only put up 72 points a few years ago. Niemela was top D-man at the World Juniors. Abbruzze was a top player two years ago in the US league. Didn't play last year because of Covid.

Man put yourself in their shoes, why on Earth would they make that trade? Heiskenan is younger, cost controlled for several years, and not to mention one of the best defensemen in the NHL. Reilly is really good but Heiskenan is a whole other class of player.

Heiskanen not going anywhere. He's worth a top D package which is way more than 2 unproven but respectable prospects and a UFA defenseman who put up points on an offensive juggernaut.

Good work on getting Holl's value about right though. First time I've seen that from a Leafs fan.

Dallas absolutely does not have a strong right side. The only RHD Dallas has that is capable of playing top-4 minutes (or even has top-4 potential) is Klingberg. After him, this is the list of RHD in the entire Stars organization:

Dawson Barteaux (not going to be an NHLer)
Joe Cecconi (May not even get re-signed this offseason & not going to be an NHLer)
    Julius Honka (Won't be re-signed)

Dallas has absolutely zero depth on the right side of their blue line, but in terms of LHD, Dallas has: Heiskanen (assuming he gets moved back to LD, his strong side), Lindell, Harley, Sekera, Hanley, Shea, and possibly Oleksiak if he re-signs. Dallas is pretty solid on the left side of their blue line.

They 1000% aren't trading 1 of 2 guys in their entire organization that can handle top-4 minutes on the right side of the blue line.

Not sure why LA would want to do this. They acquired Lemieux specifically for the "sandpaper". I'm sure Engvall is a perfectly fine 4th line option, but sandpaper he is not.

I'm not joking when I say that the only way I could even see Heiskanen being moved to Toronto is if Matthews was coming the other way. Obviously not saying it'd be a 1-for-1, but that's the caliber of player Dallas would want back in any trade involving Heiskanen.

If we were to move Heiskanen it would 100% be for a top tier centre, and yes I’m serious that I wouldn’t trade Heiskanen for any defensemen. He’s proven to be such a responsible defensemen at such a young age, he also factored big time in our run last year.

I'm glad I pissed off the Dallas fans. Not sure that was my intention. Trying to play around with the D. That's why there are volumes to this lol

It's OK to be pissed. No harm in that as long as you now understand how we value our Franchise D.

FYI, Heiskanen is part of the solution for Dallas next decade. This along with Hintz, Harley, Oettinger and Robertson. Just below these players you find the likes of Gurianov, Bourque, Dellandrea and Klingberg, if he signs an extension.

All the other players (excluding those with a NMC) could be moved.

You are not interested in Lindell? He is cost controlled for the next 4 years but comes with a NMC kicking in next season. Would gladly take any RD or extra offensive output that you have.

Is Lucius the guy with the nice shot? And if McTavish falls to us I won’t complain, but I can’t see it happening.

Same here. I’m not trying to be rude, I was only trying to tell the value of Heiskanen. Sorry if I sounded rude it wasn’t my intentions.

Dallas has a strong right side? Lol. Our right side is Klinger and then literally nobody else. Miro is our 2RD, but that’s mostly because Bones missed the class about getting the most out of your best players. To be fair he has done well with other roster decisions, but watching Miro’s usage in the regular season this year was painful
