Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
In this model I add 2 centers that are an enigma. Both Dvorak and Johansen have a lot of term and take up quite a bit of cap space. Both could up their game in a new environment or stagnate. Its a gamble. But your only trading Dumba and swapping some draft choices to do this. Buying out Parise is also a gamble as the cap hit becomes excessive down the road. Signing KK EK Fiala to long term extensions helps. Plus Cole and Menell fill out the D. But this model gambles on players performing and way to many long term contracts limiting cap space in the future if players don't perform up to their capabilities.

I just can't see Poile retaining that much on a contract. He got a pretty poor return for Subban (no one expected him to fall off like he did that first year with NJD) just so he didn't have to retain

I do value Dvorak a lot but that is a bit of an overpayment. I could offer Dumba + Second for Dvorak.

Seattle is not getting a good C prospect for 1 year of Rask. We just buy him out if that is essential.

Nashville pays to ship off Johansen, not the other way around. (Though I would prefer Duchene dump if possible)

Duchene is 2 years older and has 1 more year of term on his contract. The biggest reason though is the buyout of Johansen's contract is alot better than Duchene's if it comes to that in 2023 or 2024. The players are very similar though with an edge to Duchene.

The Kraken will want something in order to take Rask in the expansion draft. ( I should have stated that) And I would think you have to give something in order for Nashville to retain salary on Johansen. Plus your only losing about 15 spots in the upcoming draft by swapping our 1 with Arizona's 2

NSH is paying to ship off Johansen here though. The 2nd and Khovanov isn't worth having to retain $2M on Johansen. Plus they lose his services as a player. Johansen is overpaid for his production, but he's still a good player the Preds would miss. He's not an Okposo-like liability on the ice.
