    Overpay by Carolina big time

If I turned the 1st into a 2nd, would it be more fair?

I think it really depends on how desperate Carolina is to replace Dougie Hamilton and keep their Cup Odds alive next year.

as a tentative cbj fan who's gone cold on jones and adores both of these prospects... A1! but also an overpayment! if you're gonna stick with these prospects, probably either knock the pick down to third round or later. even if you move to '22, i think second-round is still too much value considering it'll probably be in the 30s. you could get away with packaging one of those first-rounders if you swap out one of the prospects with someone less prolific. their prospect pool has been my fav in the league for years running so i find it's a lot more dangerous for them to dish out their excellent work like that. but i did some digging and i'd suggest someone like vasili ponomarev? a tier below jarvis and suzuki, keep in mind he's a center when deciding to either lay the centers on thick with ponomarev + suzuki or to mix up the forward diversity with jarvis.

but like: reality check to self, i don't think this is a good trade partnership anyway lol. you got goddamn dean kukan playing with werenski? christ... and carolina has no good d prospects lol. i just can't see cbj not landing a first round defenseman from the past 3-4 drafts when trading away. a defenseman.

Filling the hole created by Dougie leaving in UFA with another player who will leave in UFA sounds like bad asset management. I wouldn't like this trade even if Jones has an extension in place, to be honest.
