We not giving a 2nd for a guy your letting walk. We will just sign him on a Free if we want him. Shaw isn't a cap dump, he's LTIR.

The whole point of Forsberg is to run him as the backup to let Gustavsson get some AHL starter minutes and have to fight for NHL minutes next year, he probably won’t be the full time backup until TDL at the earliest, likely 2022-23.

LTIR contracts count in the offseason and affect a team's spending capacity...

Very much disagree, Gustavsson has been the AHL for 4 years now and proved that he deserves a shot in the NHL last year.

Not us, we have a massive market and funding to sustain him on LTIR. The offseason also has an increase in cap. We won't be paying a 2nd to take Shaw, he's retired on LTIR from Concussion and we don't have money issues.

Nope Chicago most definitely has cap issues heading into the offseason, around $6M only available with a lot of spots to fill out. The offseason rule allows only a 10% exceeding of the cap during the offseason, and LTIR can be used at the start of training camp. During that timeframe, Shaw's $3.9M salary will limit Chicago potentially spending to the cap.

If Gus is ready we can trade Forsberg mid-season or lose him on waivers, doesn’t matter. But there’s no reason to sacrifice all our goalie depth, we were decimated by injuries this year which is why he got a shot in the first place, and we’re already not bringing back Hogberg.

Idk if Högberg has trade value in the SHL with how bad he was this year -naturally I'm exaggerating- but yikes his play was so ugly and deflating 😬

It felt like McDavid & Draisaitl were going to coast to 5 points a game each against him early on

Let in 2 of the worst goals I've ever seen at NHL level

Hawks don't have very many spots to fill at all. No serious ufa's for them. No RFA that deserves a big raise. They have plenty of cap space. Not to mention losing someone in the expansion draft freeing up more space.

There is method in the madness and its difficult to explain though I can reassure you that we don't have any cap issues and do indeed have the reasonable cap space flexibility whilst the squad is filled.

Take a read of this for more explanation:

PS: We still not giving you a 2nd to take our LTIR guy and if we want Hogberg we sign him for nothing as he's not getting a QO.

I'm not sure what is confusing about this as it's simply a trade to shed Shaw's contract rather than to acquire Hogberg... he's essentially 'future considerations' here, a body who has to go the other way.

We aren't paying a 2nd to move Shaw who is LTIR for the remainder of his contract (1 year). He has been given medical clearance due to the concussions he's received throughout his career. He's retired, not coming back.

I'm well aware, but circle back to my comment about LTIR cap space during the offseason.

Again this is a non issue and now we are going around in circles.

We will not be paying you a 2nd for Shaws contract.
