As a Sabres fan even though I love the return I know it’s a bit of an overprice for Eichel.

Good job

I'm surprised that I found a version that feels possible. The key to paying for Eichel will be keeping our contracts on JEEK and Fiala under 4.5 and 6M each. Or including Fiala in a trade for Eichel, but I'd hate to lose him

I have to believe that he's worth it if it keeps Kirill on the Wild

I was having that conversation with someone earlier, if trading for Jack means Kap signs long term then MIN may want to overpay to make sure they get Jack

Not sure giving up Frost + a 1st is plausible for Dumba. But what is concerning is thinking Frost is ready for 2C action. Was injured all last year and the year before in 20 games was on pace for a staggering 30 points over 82 games. Sure he is a decent prospect but if you want him as 2C right off the bat is a massive risk.

Then I'd flip flop him with Sturm. He was good enough to get more minutes next year and being in the 4th line would hold Frost to about 10 minutes a game.

It is kinda funny that you think Dumba (a top 4 D with two years left) isn't worth Frost and a first and then go on to talk down about Frost being ready for his natural NHL position. Surely Dumba is worth more than just a 1st round pick

Maybe I should have made my point more clear. Value wise it is probably a fair deal. Fit wise I don't think so for the Flyers. Frost is likely the only legit true center the Flyers have that can start to work into the lineup and make a impact top 6 in the near future. Patrick hasn't panned out for a various reasons and now are talks of him wanting out of Philly for a fresh start. Rubtsov was another natural center that had fallen in the draft because of the doping scandal, was a gift that hasn't really showed much. O'Brien was a risky reach and a boom or bust type player that has rebounded a little but is still years away from potentially being anything. Let alone Wilson and Foerster being good prospect but years away from NHL ready. Basically Flyers have 1 decent asset in Frost to hopefully count on for a top 6 center sooner rather than later when Coots or Hayes start to regress. I think they'd rather keep their in house option than have to trade or sign for a center in near future.

And as for Dumba I would love him on the Flyers but I just think they are looking at a guy they can sign now long term to solidify their plan for the coming years., If Flyers falter again and don't look great he can just walk away during FA, especially if Flyers can't clear cap for upcoming extensions during Dumbas two remaining years. Got Grioux, Coots, Lindblom and Myers let alone anyone else that potentially gets a short bridge contract like Patrick, Sanheim or Hart.

Thank you for the details!! That's really helpful. I've been seeing the Flyers as a natural fit for Dumba with this kind of return. I figure that plus GMCF made this a likely lock for the actual trade. But your info on the lack of centers in Philadelphia really explains why this might not happen.

It's a bit of an overpayment IMO. If it were Frost going to the Sabres over Rossi I'd probably bite, but based on Russo's comments on KFAN this morning it sounds like this is what it will take to get a deal done.

I'm pretty torn on Eichel now. Sounds like Kaprizov wants to be sold on our long term plan and getting Eichel probably keeps him here, but Russo indicated that he has heard the Sabres want a ton of futures so we'll probably have to gut our pool to get him. All I can say is I'm really glad I'm not Guerin.

I like the Dumba move, even if we might need to add a small piece to it (13th overall is pretty high).
I personally don't want anything to do with Eichel, unless the deal seems so one sided it would be impossible to say no. Like Dumba+Greenway+1st. I prefer a longer term approach, and don't think Eichel will really make the difference we'd like him to, especially at the expense of cheap depth like this. So I'm not really the best to ask. It's usually a blanket no from me on Eichel deals.

Honestly, take out a first and add rask. Two very good forward prospects and two later firsts in a weak draft (it is what it is) seems like pretty good quality of quantity. Rask is more for you guys, we should have room for a cap dump.

Its nice to hear that after all this time we should get something decent for him. all weve been hearing for 6 months from everybody not in western new york, is that we should be giving up eichel for whatever teams 4,5,6 best prospects, and a top 15 protected first. Plus the whole injury thing with eichel, you would think we were having candlelight vigils for him and that last rites had already been given. Honestly, this is in the ballpark, guys like eichel never get moved, especially with that much term left. Minnesota gets the best center theyve had since modano was there (not sure if you consider the stars the same as the wild) the sabres get nice pieces to start over again.

Well the thing is, just because the Sabres are asking for a huge package of futures doesn't mean they'll get it. I mean if Edmonton calls for Kaprizov we can ask for Draisaitl but they'll obviously say no. I'll be really interested to see what the Sabres get for Eichel. Personally I wouldn't be comfortable moving both of Rossi and Boldy for him since we don't have the depth in our pool for that to be palatable, but it sounds like they're asking for those two plus first round picks.

I would be thrilled if we could move Rask to Buffalo and keep the Phi pick.

Id be fine with this, unless dach, zegras, or byfield is offered with roughly the same package.
