Description
I'm a Redwings fan first hometown fan second so I know my fellow Redwings fans may pull their hair out seeing the captin traded but I am a believer now that Yzerman will sell any piece that wasn't of his selection.... I thought Mantha was untouchable especially after his new contract but boy was I wrong. You're getting a 9th Oa a former top 10 in Virtanen and a goaltending prospect of which we lack... yes Dipietro had a bad showing this year but his development numbers are unreal and needs more time to develop. Think Connor Bedard in two years being a goal for Detroit.

Seattle selects Holtby or not the salaries are similar if they said yes to the selection or not so cap hit wouldn’t really change.

This would lock up Vancouvers core for the foreseeable future and I'd believe turn them into contenders

Let em comments rip boys and girls. Should be a good one

That's a PHENOMENAL return for Larkin, but Stevie won't move a guy he just gave the "C" for less than a King's Ransom. Add Podkolzin and I'd accept. And I'm a Larkin believer.

Maybe another pick but prospect wise I couldn't see them pushing out to many more unless it was rfa rights to Joulevi.

I honestly could see Zadina AND Larkin get traded for the right price... these are Hollands picks not his

For the right price, yes. But the Newly named captain of a rebuilding team, and a hometown boy that sells tickets needs more.

Really? I would have thought any conversation involving Larkin would have to include Pettersson or Hughes. If we can land him for a package similar to the one proposed that would be phenomenal.

Eriksson + 1st 2021 (9th OA) + 1st 2022 + 2nd 2021 + Juolevi/DiPietro for Larkin

What are the chances that Larkin wouldn't play for a rebuilding team again? I feel like that's the only way he would get moved.

Why if I was Yzerman I'd take it, it would add to the wings talent pool allowing them to go heavy into the defence and goaltending prospects this draft, momentarily would hurt Detroits ability to win games now and sell tickets but with the new draft lottery odds it isn't a bad thing as the next phenom will be up in a couple years with Connor Bedard and I'd love to see the Wings get him.

I dont think thats enough for larkin to be honest, virtanen doesnt bring any positive value to that trade. The way i look at it for taking eriksson and virtanen, 8.55 millon in salary, that equals the 2022 first round pick. so that means larkin for 9th overall pick in this draft, dipietro (who i agree really good goalie prospect) and a 2nd round pick. if detroit trades larkin they might as well firesale anyone over the age of 22.

Yzerman said Larkin is untouchable. He wants him to be like how yzerman was after Bowman took over. Zadina has transformed into an incredible 2 way player, once he gets scoring down as well he will be dangerous. Can't see either player getting moved. This deal also is nowhere near a need for canucks and wings would never agree to it. It's actually not even remotely close

Marc stall fetched less return and has less upswing than Virtanen, I'd argue that the salary for a year is higher but after 1 year it comes off the books but the potential for Jake is worth more

i dont think with what he did this year for points or overall play that he even deserves an nhl roster spot, throw in his sexual assault allegations and you can almost say good bye nhl career. i know hes only 24 and could rebound but watching him in junior and world juniors before he was drafted, i was shocked he went as high. staal was a second and i would say a second for eriksson alone is fair value, i just dont see any advantage to adding virtanen.
