Would Hamilton make this team better

Created by: MatthewsFan
Team: 2021-22 Toronto Maple Leafs
Initial Creation Date: Jun. 19, 2021
Published: Jun. 21, 2021
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Would his addition help them get over the hump? Or just even more top heavy with large contracts. Say if they can move Rielly Kerfoot Holl, would Dougie’s 8+ contract be money well spent or better spreading out on 2-3 players?

I would be shocked if he even actually wants to play in this market under a constant microscope. Personally, it would be awesome to add him but IMO that money would be better spent to balance out this roster.

Thoughts?

I believe the Pens would give a resounding yes.

    Vancouver declines.
Winnipeg accepts but they would probably prefer to send a 3rd instead of a 2nd.
    Pens accept
Arizona declines but Engvall can realistically be a 13th forward.
Carolina declines. Freddy is gonna make too much to be a 1B option for them. Can still sign Hamilton for free though.

I mean sure you can kinda ignore the trades, I was looking more for should the Leafs sign Hamilton or use that money else where.

The Jets would probably consider that if they can't get Copp re-signed at a reasonable dollar and term.

Just curious, thoughts on if the Leafs should go after Dougie? Or too much money, could be better spent?

I think Toronto should go after him, but I don't know that Hamilton will want to sign there. He really hates the spotlight.

agreed dude, from everything I’ve ever heard he hates being under the limelight. This would not be the right environment for him. And personally I think that money could be better spent than on just 1 player
