Competitive with cap space

Created by: Snowm3n

Initial Creation Date: Jun. 21, 2021

Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
I would do a sign and trade for Dougie so his AAV could come down to maybe 6.5-6.75. With the extra year. I would give the jet's second-rounder to Carolina in the trade. I saw this on another armchair gm, but i got lowry to solve that 3c issue and the jets need defence. Also there's a good chance Rielly sign back with the jets as well. Also would go up to 7.25 AAV for dougie if needed but no more then that

What cap space? You don’t even have enough to fill out a roster?

I can't see the Jets trading Lowry after just signing him to a team-friendly extension. Also, Rielly probably has Winnipeg on his 10 team no-trade list.

I wouldn’t because kerfoot as 3c means Mcloed is at 4c which pushes jj out of the regular line up and that’s a big pk loss. If adding to centre depth which is a good idea would want a righty that can win draws and help pk. I’d rather either getzlaf as 3c if not possible then let Mcloed have that spot and bring in glendening for a third of the price that kerfoot costs and let him and jj battle it out for 4c.

As much as I would absolutely love Lowry there’s no way there trading him. Just resigned but also that Copp-Lowry-Appleton line is one of my favorites and I don’t see WPG breaking up any of them

I was thinking of putting Kerfoot on McLeods wing. I believe they would do really good. Both fast, Kerfoot could teach him something… besides Kerfoot sucks at face offs.

Ya I get that. Tough one honestly really depends how high you are on benson as well. This is a deal that can make sense I suppose depending on what else plays out. Wouldn’t be my plan A or B but not exactly a last resort.

Once again, Hamilton isn’t taking a discount to go to Toronto. If that’s the deal he happily stays in Carolina.

read the description you could save money with that extra year. then u have over 1 mill in cap space and by the trade deadline that adds up a lot.

Would not want Kerfoot as I think he is taken in the expansion draft and more importantly I think Oilers need a RH Center

We do, but we can protect Kerfoot, and put him on McLeods wing. Have a nice speedy third line.

Teams carry scratches. There’s no cap space. There’s negative cap space.

He may not be better or more valuable than Hedman but that’s not how contracts work. Hedman signed that deal 4-5 years ago so that’s not a suitable comp due to cap and market considerations at the time. A player is worth what the market dictates and all reports thus far indicate something closer to Pietro contract. I still think he’ll get less than that and the offer Carolina gave him won’t be that far off his best offer available so he’ll end up coming back at 7x7.5ish
