building through UFA

Description
If we do this and only sign one bigger name (coleman in this case) it is important to leave money for a deadline upgrade which I have.

If the pittsburgh trade is not made than oesterle doesn't get signed and a UFA goalie is. If seattle picks holl than we can try dermott + a pick for desmith or agree to a under 1m deal with dermott orelse let him walk.

if kerfoot gets picked than sign a 3C with the money

Coleman, Galchenyuk, Simmonds underpaid. Why trade for DeSmith before the draft so there's two goalies to worry about protecting?

desmith likely won't be picked because there are a good number of G's better than him

But does he have more or less trade value than Dermott or Kerfoot? That's the question. Given you gave up Holl for him, it seems he'd have more value.

Also, if you trade Holl, then you can protect Kerfoot + two other guys, so you don't need to give up SDA to make Dermott the pick over Kerfoot.

i think desmith is a good back up so he has some worth. if it wasn't for his injury he probably would've helped the pens to the second round. i think its a good move for TOR imo

Mostly cause Desmith likely wont be picked and even if he does we are going to lose Holl so atleast we pick up a 5th.

Okay well to be fair I have a million left in cap and 3 extra guys on roster so pay they a total of 1.8m extra and take one guy off the roster I couldnt care.

I went with protecting 4 dman cause I signed Oesterle in this situation. Although you could very well do 7/3 but than have a massssssive hole at RD. I guess that can be filled by dermott worse case scenario to start the season or Bogosian but I dont want either in the starting 6

Im good with giving him 4 but no more. I got the extra cap space to do so anyways.
