RIELLY TO THE PENS

Created by: Mr_Gardoki

Initial Creation Date: Jun. 21, 2021

Description
Leafs fans keep insisting on the completely unrealistic idea of trading Rielly to the Pens. Here's how the deal would actually have to look to make sense for the Pens.

Remember, Hextall has been clear in every interview that the Pens are not moving any major futures unless it's too good of a deal.

Why do you get Rielly just to trade him?

Bishop is worth more. Bishop and Oettinger r gonna be tandem next year. Seattle will select Doby

also Ritchie for Rielly is very lopsided. Boston would take that any day

Pettersson is a good dman. Obviously not in the same realm as Reilly, but he's a legit #4 dman signed to a decent contract. Why would the Pens move him out for one year of Rielly then be left with nothing?

Bishop doesn't have the value Dallas fans think. His clause gives Dallas little leverage in the return and his health makes him a gamble, but a gamble that makes sense for the Pens.

Coleman could easily get 4+ from other teams. Wouldnt take a discount to play on Pittsburgh

I really don’t think so. Everyone is overvaluing this offseasons FA market. It’s gonna be a buyers market with this flat cap. Most teams are up against the cap and cash strapped. We will see.

I think if Coleman get a 3 year deal @ 3.5M, 10.5M total contract. It just might do it in this offseason. We’ll see though.

This isn’t my ACGM, I didn’t do this post. But imo, I think people are gonna be surprised how little money will be given out this offseason.

Oddly enough, Bishop’s health issue make him the perfect tandem for Oettinger. When Bishop is healthy, he’s consistently putting up top-10 numbers across the NHL.

His injury history & how well Oettinger did last year mean that Dallas can cut back his workload to prevent injury, while still getting top-10 caliber production when he’s in the pipes. It also allows them to let Oettinger take the next step in his development by giving him more time in the crease.

What may start as a 50/50 time split to start could very well turn into a 65/35 or 70/30 split by the end of the season, with Oettinger seeing the lion’s share of the starts.

When they move Khudobin, they’re really set up in the perfect scenario for the next couple of years, until Bishop‘a contract is up. Dallas has no reason to move Bishop unless they are blown away by a trade offer.

I really just winged this one. This is more to prove a point because Leafs fans continue to keep kicking out these ridiculous Reilly to Pens trade without realizing the Pens are just not in the position to make it happen.

Lol. Ya, Rielly to the Pens makes no sense. I was responded to the guy that posted about B.Coleman making 4M plus.

I think 4M per will be around the max he gets. Just b/c the flat cap amd most teams are up against the cap and cash strapped. It’s gonna be a buyers market this offseason

There just isn’t a lot of money out there this offseason for FAs. Coleman might be one that still gets paid. But I wouldn’t be surprised if it was 3M-4M per either. I guess we will see!!

I agree as well. I could even see Coleman taking closer to $3M if a team gives him term.

I think any other season he would get more. Teams might get in a bidding war and he could have multiple good offers in another offseason.

I just don’t see multiple contending teams having the cap space. And the teams with cap room are rebuilding, most likely he’s not on their radar.

I think people are gonna be surprised by what Coleman, Hyman, Sadd get this offseason. I think it’s gonna be the D-men that get paid.

RNH will get paid. D.Hamilton will. Landeskog, Ovi, Raask will resign with their teams. T.Hall will get paid.

I could see players like T.Barrie, A.Martinez, Savard, M.Rielly, Ceci, Oleksiak, Montour getting good contracts or overpaid a bit. Less good D-men out there.

I think more than acouple of Coleman, Saad, Hyman, Palmieri, Tatar, Hoffman, Foligno, J.Schwartz, Granlund, M.Janmark are gonna be paid less than people think or they are worth.
