I think the Rangers lose every trade.

I like the concept, just not sure these are the right horses.

Jets just signed Lowry to a team-friendly extension. I doubt they trade him.

Im just throwing out the idea of rather than making the HUGE center acquisition, we do slightly smaller ones that are long-term financially viable. With Dvorak and Lowry under contract on good numbers for the foreseeable future, it really takes a huge weight off the Rangers for several years.

Mix things around, throw in some picks or whatever to round out the trades one way or the other, but this is a squad I think I can get behind without doing the blockbuster.

I like the thought process. Let’s us resign Mika as well and have our top 3 centers for a while. By then we’d prolly get lucky and develop one in the draft to supplement or replace in due time.

I really think Morgan Barron, with time, can be a legit 3C / fringe 2C. Really depends on if his skating can get better, because I think the IQ is definitely there.

I’m excited for him as well. I’m just conflicted on giving him another year in the AHL. I feel like he doesn’t need it, but I don’t think it could hurt to start the year there and then move up halfway. I just don’t want him relegated to only 4th line minutes cause that wouldn’t be putting him in a position to succeed in my opinion.

Then it may limit what we do with our 3C position. You could pick up a guy like Kuraly in FA who is a bottom 6 C and maybe start the season with Barron on the 4th line and flip flop them and see what happens.
