The Flames might trade Tkachuk. I don’t think they will, but they might.

If they do, it’s not going to be for futures. They brought a coach out of retirement, he didn’t do that to win 31 games next year. The GM needs to make the playoffs in 21/22 if he wants to stick around.

Rightly or wrongly, this is an ownership group in Calgary that is trying to win and if they allow their highest paid player to be moved, it’s for immediate help.

A 1 for 1 hockey deal is more likely than loads of futures. Even something like Hamilton for Lindholm/Hanifin could happen here

I don’t think it will be a 1 for 1 but I think it will be something of the equivalent of Batherson and 10th overall level return. Where they get a good young winger and a good pick, or Kubalik and 11th overall. Just giving examples of returns not exact thing

If they want to compete now and not have a bunch of futures, Blues should offer up both Schenn and Dunn plus a smaller piece to the deal (2nd round or even Blais/Kostin). This gives them valuable pieces now and future.
Assuming they are building future: Dunn, Neighbors, 2021 1st.

There's a few players I think they would target in some 1-for-1 with maybe a bit of addition on either sides.

    Buffalo- Reinhardt or Eichel.
Columbus- Jones or Laine. I know their RHD seems pretty set but if they lose Giordano maybe Jones makes sense.
    Nashville- Ekholm plus
    Arizona- Keller or OEL

Not sure how many of teams want/need Tkachuk though. Not going to be an easy deal to make.

Please note that Mitchell Marner does not appear on this list.

Schenn has a full NTC and Dunn's not needed. St. Louis doesnt really have anything of interest besides ROR in terms of Tkachuk

The Blues aren’t a good fit.

Parayko grew up an Oiler fan. Probably not likely the flames could sign him long term. Even if they did, it’s extremely expensive.

I like Thomas and Kyrou, it won’t happen in reality this off-season though. Maybe in a year if the organization tries to tear it down

ROR wouldn't be included, and yes, they have plenty of players of interest. Not sure why fans think Tkachuk is worth top 10 league player value when he's barely top 10 LW in the league. I like him, but that's insane.

This just makes Calgary older and puts them in a tougher spot. St Louis isn’t getting a deal done without one of Thomas or Kyrou no matter how they twist it

Carolina has a need for another top 6 winger and a bunch of players who are NHL ready. Maybe Nino (expiring deal for money purposes) + some combination of Foegele/Bean (ready now) and Suzuki/Gunler (ready later) and a pick or two.

The Senators are a much more likely destination if and when a trade happens.

This is going to become what the Gaudreau thing has been for the last 5 years lol

I know ROR isnt available and I know STL has some solid assets but Calgary is looking to compete now not downgrade and add futures

I have been proposing Batherson and 10th overall. That’s a bit more than I’m comfortable with but I know what I’m getting with Tkachuk. By end of next year , Batherson will be in the same convo as Necas imo

Refer to my comment that the players in the first part are NHL ready and could add some real depth to the Flames.

And Blues have a couple pieces like Schenn who they might be willing to part with and can play center and wing. Whether Calgary would be of interest is another question. Ultimately I dont think they make good trade partners.

So an older vet. Maybe rental or guy with 2 years left?

    DAL - Pavelski + Faksa
    FLA - Huberdeau + Wallmark
    VGK - Patches + Smith
    PHI - JvR + Frost
    VAN - Boeser + Pearson

    That sort of thing?

That doesnt make them any less of futures, they are still prospects that need to be developed. Calgary is looking to win

flames fans will most likely have to come to terms that a MT trade will only involve picks and prospects...or lose MT for nothing in 2 years

Yeah I guess you could say that lol.

So from your perspective, Would you prefer CGY extend Huberdeau and Weegar and try to add someone like Kadri to bolster the top 6 OR

Run them till the deadline then flip them to the highest bidder starting a sell off?
