I would agree Brazal needs a young sniper. But I'm just not sure the mesh together. Hope I'm wrong. As far a Golyshev, I think it's way too soon or hopeful to think he can be a regular with the club next year. I think he's a longshot at best.

Wahlstrom checks off almost every box in what you want in a winger for Barzal. I’m not sure why you think they don’t mesh.

Golyshev floor is a 3rd line winger, he’s also a line driver and one of the best young scorers in KHL history. Whether he hits his ceiling is unknown but he should make the team next season

New blood should not come in the form of declining wingers. There are ways to get younger and faster, there are many undervalued wingers available around the league.

Goodrow is going to get a lot more than 925 k because GMs always overpay in free agency.

Barzal and Wahlstrom have only had about 10 min of ice time at 5v5 this season and they have dominated possession. The 2x they were on the same powerplay together wahlstrom scored within 30 seconds. Wahlstrom has the skating, pucks skills, and elite shot to complement Barzal.

Well, let's hope you are right. We need a change to get over the hump (being Tampa) next year. I really like a Goodrow type of person on that 3rd line.

I am a fan of goodrow, but the isles can’t afford to overpay him in free agency. I think he gets 3 mill x 3

Didn't we or another team sign a top scoring player from the KHL recently (last 2-3 years ago)? and didn't he stink? For some reason I remember his happening but I can't think of the player.

damn, that much? I was maybe thinking 1M per for him for 2-3 years. But you are probably right.

Yan kovar - the problem with him was that he was a complimentary player who relied on his linemates in the KHL. Once he lost his star winger, his numbers took a big hit. Golyshev can drive his own line. Plus It matters more what you do when you’re young (17-21) - Golyshev is top 5 in U21 KHL scoring. Kovar was a product of his line mate later in his career.

He won a cup and he plays on a dominant line. Also brings grit, intangibles. GM’s love players like him.

I don't know, even though Eberle is a soft player he still goes into the corners and works for the puck and gets it to Brazal. Maybe I'm wrong, I'm not sure Wahlstrom will do that, he'll stay in 1 or 2 spots looking for a shot. Eberle moves more. To me, if you have Lee/Brazal/Wahlstrom. You'll have Lee parked in front of the net, Wahlstrom standing by the circle waiting for a one-timer and Brazal circling around with the puck for too long. I think we need more movement on Brazal's line in general. Not sure if I'm making my point too clear...

I am not knocking Eberle, he's a good player and he does recover pucks , but Wahlstrom was one of the Isles best forecheckers this season and he was great defensively. It's also a skill to find soft spots in the offensive zone and play off of talented playmakers like Barzal. Even if Wahlstrom did stand around waiting for a one timer, he has the elite shot to make it work, but he doesn't do that. It's not his game. Theres a reason why he was successful with Jack Hughes In the USDP . Wahlstrom can execute give and go plays and his instincts in the ozone are elite.

Fair point but as I mentioned, good valve. More picks for a team looking to build and they were close to trading for him at the begining of the year so I'm guessing they think he can bring some sort of leadership in the locker room.

I’m sorry, valve?

That aside, Ottawa was also able to dump two LTIR contracts off to Tampa in the dump. Can’t imagine Komarov playing any more than Paquette and Coburn did either.

I can’t see a situation where dumping a 4th line player who doesn’t produce will cost you any less than a 2nd. We’re clearing cap space for you to sign veterans when we could just take the cap space we have and sign them ourselves?
