Couture is a 32 year old on a big contract for 6 more years thats been trending down for 3 years.

U desperately need clutch scoring and a great 2C. U get both in Couture.

Couture was that. From 2016-17 to 2018-19 he was that. He hasn’t been that the last two seasons. Hey if you want to argue that he would be a good gamble for the bruins, I’ll listen. I’ll likely disagree because his contract is terrifying if he continues on the trend he’s been on. What I don’t think is worth even entertaining is that he’s worth all that. If someone offered the sharks to take him without retention for free, San Jose is over the moon and accepts.

From a Sharks fan... I'm not sure Couture and his six years remaining at 8 mil are a positively valued asset.

Couture gets a lot of defensive shifts, so maybe his numbers increase with less of that load in Boston but I'd really doubt it. He was narrowly a positive impact on scoring chances for the Sharks, he's barely an average 2c.

The playoff performances... I mean sure maybe he can recapture the ppg level.. but his 8mil may restrict this team from building a roster that makes the postseason in a few years.
