My other idea also involved Kerfoot and possibly Mikheyev as well.

Toronto gets a young forward who I think could be a pretty good Hyman replacement, as well as cap space and probably a pick or picks.

I’m not sure how Edmonton would look after this trade but I do think it helps both teams.

I’m definitely open to suggestions and opinions. This is just an idea that popped into my mind like 20 minutes ago.
    TOR
Obviously picks/players would be added to even out value, but this is the main idea.

Assuming Barrie walks, Klefbom doesn’t return and considering EDM’s already thin blue line I think it makes sense for them.

Wouldn't that be fun, EDM adding a TOR first pair D two years in a row to their roster as a one year strengthening.

Honestly in this scenario, the biggest issue for EDM is their lack of scoring wingers. Moving Yamamoto only makes the problem worse.

They'd probably just be better off by keeping Yamamoto and trying to re-sign Barrie. Even if the value in Rielly for Yamamoto trade is more than fair,

I don't think this is the best path for the Oilers. They need guys who provide stops on the backend and Rielly isn't really that. It also leaves them with their top 2 on the left UFA's at the same time a year from now. They struggle with scoring depth upfront as it is, and moving Yamamoto doesn't help that, though that issue would be easier than others to solve through FA.

I think scoring winger could be added through FA this year a lot easier than dmen, especially higher caliber. The best LD available this year is Martinez, IMO, and after that there’s definitely options but nothing that stands out. Wingers available probably include Tatar, Schwartz, Hoffman, Palmieri, Saad, potentially Hall.

They will probably sign one of those, but ultimately they still need Yamamoto too.

            Tatar-McDavid-Puljujärvi
            ???-Draisaitl-Yamamoto

They're simply lacking in the top-6 asset much more than with D-men. Especially if RNH walks. Their D core is just better than their forward core - minus those centers naturally.
