Detroit - Taking Advantage of the Expansion Draft Part 1

Description
Just some trade ideas using The Scores protected list to get bargain trades by trading advantage of teams who could potentially lose significant players for nothing. Not all these trades can happen obviously, or would any of them happen. Not to mention the teams will probably have different protection lists and might make a deal with Seattle.
My protected list for Detroit includes Larkin, Fabbri, Vrana, Bertuzzi, Erne, Rasmussen and Svechnikov but I could easily take the risk of losing svechnikov for nothing in order to protect a different forward. For defence Hronek, Chowlowski and Lindstrom. I would be ok with losing one of Lindstrom or Cholowski if it meant a better player to be protected. For goalie right now I would protect Greiss but considering he didn't have a great season and is 35 I would have no issue leaving him exposed.
I don't expect the value of the trades to be exact but any of these trades should only be made as a major bargain, so a late round draft pick or similar. I also didn't take into consideration the other teams exposure requirements.
The trade with Washington is more of a cap dump for them while sending vanecek who they would probably lose for nothing.
Colombus don't have that many interesting players, Seattle might opt to take a goalie prospect instead, decent prospect for Detroit for cheap.
The only reason I would trade for Subban is to flip him for more while retaining half his salary, but even that might be difficult.
Same idea with the islanders and Leddy, although I believe he will be a better trade option over Subban.
The Score has voracek exposed as he is older and not worth the money he's paid. Could be an interesting addition to the team for a year or two, or just a potential flip, I wouldn't want to retain too much salary on his deal as it lasts for another 3 years.
I think everyone knows kerfoot is going to be exposed and the leafs need him gone just for the salary, he could actually have a good fit in Detroit to fill a centre spot and he is only 26 or he could be flipped for more later.
Carolina looks at losing former first round pick Jake bean, he could be a potential long term fit for Detroit, I had the trade of him coming over with the Gardiner contract and a second round pick.
Lauzon is another defenceman that could fit into Detroit's long term plans if he could be had for cheap enough.
Miller is another player to flip for more later.
Tampa needs Seattle to take one of their forwards but the most interesting player I think is Cal Foote. He would be a long term fit in Detroit and they could probably make a deal for killorn as well to trade later for assets.
I just did the eastern conference teams for right now, I know most of this would never happen but it's a possibility.

I agree with the strategy but I dont see NJ as a trade partner. They are in basically the same place, with over 30M in cap space to play with in the offseason. So I don't see them moving Subban for cap purposes, especially coming off his best season in years and for a negligible return. They'd probably rather eat half the salary themselves and get a better return at the deadline if they choose to move him.

Totally agree, just going with the scores exposure list, they could lose him for nothing depending which way Seattle goes in their expansion draft. It wouldn't be trade to make cap space, just a trade to get something in return.

Certainly Tampa can move M NTC Killorn for a lot more than 4th rounder and you want to add Foote too?
Leafs could lose Kerfoot in expansion. If they trade him for the Wings for nothing, the Leafs lose either Holl or Dermot to Seattle, so they are down two NHLers instead of just one.

Holl will be protected, losing Dermott doesn't hurt them, it's just a hypothetical anyways
I also stated in the description that the values aren't correct

So we can lose one good player, OR we can lose two good players and get a fifth round pick?

Gosh, how compelling. This is totally a thing that we should be taking seriously.

You obviously don't understand what's going on here, I didn't put the true value on any of the trades and if you were talking about Tampa losing two players for one pick I was just stating either could be moved for cheap
