Here is the plan

Initial Creation Date: Jun. 22, 2021

Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Protect:
Oshie (maybe go Sheary here)
Backy
Kuzy
Mantha
Wilson
Sprong
Dowd

TVR
Carlson
Orlov

Sammy

I know this is not the traditional players people show as protected. IMO the Capitals need to play a little bit of chess when it comes to expansion draft, which means maybe losing a better player (Eller, Schultz, Jensen, and maybe Oshie) at a higher salary cap hit to protect low cost high value players (TVR, Dowd, Sprong, maybe Sheary). obviously Idk what exactly will happen in the expansion draft but at some point this offseason the Caps are going to have to pay to move some cap space. There are 3 players that would I would like to see moved for cap reasons: Dillion (unless Schultz is taken by Seattle), Hagelin, and Kempny. A lot of people need to quit this delusion that the Caps are going to trade kuzy for a guy who produces at a lower rate but somehow he team gets better. The Chara & Hank signings could be other veterans that will play for a low cost contract.

Any team with cap space and need for a goalie and return can be adjusted. This is a move to make sure Seattle doesn't take VV and using him as a way to move a contract.

Kempný is LTIR there's no reason to dump his cap... even if he wasnt i wouldnt pay to trade him. He was really solid while playing for the Capitals

He isn't going to on LTIR next season... and he has two major leg injuries in 2 years, moving his contract will cost the Caps.

Like this year he won’t play at all so yes he’ll be in LTIR unless you heard something the team didn’t release yet hmm 🤔. Lol

This is for the coming season, Idk maybe you're trolling, but he was essentially on the roster for the current playoffs. He won't be on LTIR this September.

He was rehabbing in Hershey and got hurt again…he was actually injured during a break in play after being struck by an ice shoveler. He was rehabilitating a torn Achilles which this will be his 3 major injury in 3 years. IDK IF YOU ARE TROLLING but idk if he’s coming back this September. Also don’t know how you thought he was rostered for these playoffs given the information above. Must have missed that article

I actually agree with your defensive protections because we can replace any of Dillon, Schultz or Jensen in house already. As for your forwards, I would protect Oshie and expose Dowd. I think your approach is correct in exposing the expensive ones and protect the cheap ones, generally. They can only take 1 guy. I wouldn't make any deals as you can see the disaster that some teams had by getting too cute about it last time.
