OTT
  1. Cirelli, Anthony
Additional Details:
I think Cirelli got pretty significantly overrated in 2019-20, but he did have a good year. It's hard to know if that was a one year high or a sign of what is to come. He's still a valuable piece, but not to the extent that he was the year before. I think a high level prospect and a 2nd is sufficient especially given their desperation to clear cap. I don't think Cirelli at 4.8m is the best use of that money.
TBL
  1. Pinto, Shane
  2. 2022 2nd round pick (TBL)
2.
OTT
  1. Pettersson, Marcus
Additional Details:
if Zucker or McCann are taken, I think White is a fit for this system. Both of these guys are overpaid, and POJ makes the D spot expendable.
White could rebound into a top 6 piece on PIT that is quite needed depending on the ED claims.

you are really missing the points here.
JJ being signed due to his being able to pass through waivers is laughable. JJ got signed because they couldn't find anyone else. Which is exactly the point. Believe me, if they could have found anyone else they would have.
Again, I did not say OTT needed a LD. that was never the point here. Nor was there ever any need to "point it out" that adds nothing to the conversation.
MPs minutes are directly related to where the puck is on the ice. You are talking about games where the penguins were having 60-65% of the puck possession in most of the games in 5v5 play.
if you take 40% of the 60 minutes...rough estimate, that's 24 minutes, you divide that by 2 units on the ice and that's 12 minutes a night.
You are over here going....he got 12 minutes a night......and I'm telling you, yeah, that's about correct.
When the guy who's suppose to be helping on the Dzone, and splitting shifts there with the 1D pair, while the 2D pair splits the Ozone with the 1D pair.
You get ........12 mintues a night.

So we agree that he's your 6th defenseman? Lol. This conversation started with me saying that he was bad. A 3LD at 4m IS bad. Good luck getting anything back for him. Clearly we're looking at the same numbers and seeing something completely different with Pettersson and that's fine. But the fact of the matter is no 4 million dollar defenseman should be playing 12 mins/night. Thats indisputable.

If you think Jack Johnson was signed to do anything other than sit in a press box youre delusional. The fact that more defensemen are being signed falls in line with taxi squads needing bodies doesnt it? Funny how that works. I could argue that you manufacturing a D shortage and sellers market while trying to create a false market for Pettersson adds nothing to the conversation either but it is what it is.

Agree to disagree but feel free to keep this book marked when Pittsburgh gets stuck with him or moves him out for pennies on the dollar. I'd love to be wrong and welcome to opportunity to eat my words.

you are really missing the point. He played his role.
You think that makes him a 6ht, or worst defenseman etc... but that's not what the numbers show. Matheson bled goals, while getting offensive starts.
He's a 2LD, period. There are many teams, that would love to have him there.

The fact is you can read your comments and see how you try to argue...."stuck with him", did you ever think they have no interest in actually moving him?
That fact just blows your mind because you have this irrational way of looking at things.
Here is a clue, you want to find a teams worst defensemen. Go look for the guy they hide in the Ozone. It tells you who they don't want blowing the game.

Again. I have zero interest in Pettersson. If you look through Pens AGM's hes the name that Pens fans are trying to trade the most often. He's also mock traded to Ottawa at least once or twice a day. That screams that fans arent happy with him. So yes, "stuck with him" is the term I used because the perception is that hes readily available which implies that hes not wanted on the contract hes signed to.

No matter how much you try to play it off as just being ozone starts for the second pairing, that doesnt make up for 8 and a half minutes less per game in the playoffs. I think I said this before but if the difference was minimal then I could understand what you're saying but clearly theres more at play than just ozone and dzone starts.

I’m following but again, do not agree. It’s not black and white. We’re both looking at gray and seeing two different shades.
