NP, the two biggest issues were giving Batherson 4 years walks him to UFA, so it's better to give a bridge deal of 2 or 3 years, or sign to some term like 6-8 years. As for Pettersson, there are a lot of nuances to offer sheets, and they aren't easy to figure out at first.

I think Marner is a great acquisition for Melnyk, after his bonus is paid this year, Marner is owed $24.8MM over the remaining four seasons, which is $6.2MM a season avg. So Melnyk gets to say he's spending to the cap, while actually spending $4.7MM under the cap, lol.
