GMBG willing to do anything

Created by: Wildwinswhen

Initial Creation Date: Jun. 23, 2021

Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
According to yesterday's conversation with Russo, GMBG is convinced signing KK will happen without issue, all trades need to be dollar for dollar this year with the cap, and he's "willing to do anything" including trading both first round picks.

I need to find another 700k of cap space, but maybe shaving the margins of the KK, Reinhart, and JEEK contacts would get us there.

Take out Reinhart, it's not enough for both. And then it's an overpay. Not worth it, imo.

Furthermore, what he said was he was willing to to anything so long as he felt it would make us better in not just the short-term, but that it also had to make sense in for the team in the long-term too. He's just not going to destroy the farm and hand our best prospects over on a whim.

So he's willing to do whatever it takes, but it's going to be within reason and have to make absolute sense for him to do it. If it's the right deal, he'll go for it. If not, he won't.

Both Eichel and Reinhart make us better in the short and long term. We'd have this roster for at least 4-6 years. That's a pretty long cup window.

Given that I accept that Rask would have to be included based on salary cap, Buffalo would still want Rossi in return if both Jack and Reinhart are going to Minnesota.

On second thought it's probably better for us to keep Boldy and trade Rossi anyway, because our center position would be tied up for years.

One way to look at this is:

Eichel for Fiala, Dumba, 1st, 3rd

Reinhart for Boldy, Rask, 1st

I've seen both trades get approving opinions from Buffalo and Wild fans. So I think I'm close. I just combined them.

Sabres would trade Eichel to a different team rather than get Fiala Dumba a 1st and a 3rd.

Seems like there's alot of disagreement among sabres fans about that

Dumba is more a salary balancer than actually useful to Buffalo in return for Eichel or Reinhart. The forwards coming back are the most important pieces. Since Minnesota only has mid round 1sts to trade, the prospects and roster talent given up will have to be better.

I’d much prefer the wild go after kuznetzov than eichel.

I'd rather go after Monahan than either of them. 🤷‍♂️

Monahan has an NTC. Will he be willing to come here?

Kuznetzov has an NTC as well. Would he be willing to come here? I haven't heard of him being upset with being on the Caps.

Here's my one word answer as to why he/they would:

Kaprizov...

Take out Fiala and Reinhart, and there is the cap you need. It's a lateral trade for those 2. Betting that Reinhart is a center after playing wing his whole career is too much of a gamble for me.

It’s a win win all around if the wild got kuznetzov. It would probably take dumba and a pick. It would extend their window and eliminate off ice baby with him. Plus he could be here with the premier new Russian superstar. So it would entirely preserve the farm, future and make kaprizov very happy to have a highly skilled Russian center.

He's doesn't care about the d-zone enough, isn't young anymore, and had a down (with issues) season to really fit with the way GMBG seems to want MN to play. Going after Danault seems to more of a GMBG type of move.

Given his comments that a center needs to play a full 200 foot game in the modern NHL, and given Tampa's cap issues, I'm wondering if he might try and get Cirelli from them.

This also doesn't mesh with trying to get Monahan.

How, and why not?

Monahan is 26, that's still pretty young. He's a capable Top-six 2C. A 5 year extension would take him to 31.

That I agree with. And because of them I do have my doubts. But my comment was merely due to preference. That's all. Monahan would be the cheapest for us to likely acquire of the three.

27 to start the season, one year left before you can even begin talking to him about an extension, and he's going to have to want to re-sign. You also have to be sure you're not going to regret the money you pay him. And a 5 year extension takes him closer to 33-34, not 31. It would kick in when he's about to turn 29.

Idk kuznetzov was a stud under trotz’s term in Washington. I think he was not a great fit for the new system as much.

Cirelli isn't a player TB should be looking to dump though. they have much worse cap they can should get rid of first.
