I agree, but they both produce the same except guentzel doesn't have a physical attribute to him like Tkachuk does. We should 100% make a call for Tkachuk. Imo guentzel is the better goal scorer (only by a litte) but Tkachuk, producing the same, has the physicality. And put Tkachuk on a line with Crosby and he will be very good.

Tkachuk is 100% the type of forward Hextall wants and just because he's more physical doesn't warrant us adding a 2nd and our second best prospect lol. It's far too much.

Too much and no. I don't think Tkachuk is going to be better. I don't think he'll be far off, but I don't think he'll ever be a 40 goal scorer. I'm not saying Jake is worlds better than Tkachuk, but he's better and costs less. That $1M less is a value. The Flames are getting a discount for more production.

While Tkachuk gets notoriety for his on ice shenanigans, I really don't think he better than Guentzel. 6m Guentzel is UFA is three years. 7m Tkachuk can be a UFA in two years and I believe his qualifying offer next season is 9m. Tkachuk's presence might change the look of the Pens, but does it make them better?

I still disagree, guentzel is a 40 goal scorer but with Tkachuk in the spot of guentzel Tkachuk will easily be a 40 goal scorer.

If it came down to the fact that Hextall was going to move Jake no matter what to make room for someone like Tkachuk then I think Jake for Tkachuk is probably the best move out there. They won't be able to outbid COL for Landeskog and there's pretty much nothing else that comes to close to that style with that much production out there via free agency.

So if it had to come down to Jake going, then I think a Jake/Tkachuk trade is the best scenario you can hope for. That said, I agree with you that he's not better than Jake, so I'm not adding one piece to this deal to get Tkachuk.

Also to whoever said Legare is your 2nd best prospect so you don’t want to move him, you realize Pittsburgh has the worst pipeline in the league, bar none, right? Legare might not crack the top 200 prospects in the league, he carries very little value. And I’d personally rank both goalies above him anyway.

Through all the injures the last few years, Jake proved to keep scoring away from Sid and Geno, so that argument is completely wrong.

If your prospects are off the table then you’re not getting Tkachuk. The reason you would be willing to give Guentzel for Tkachuk straight up is the exact same as the reason it gets declined—Tkachuk’s better.

For the record, I wouldn't make that trade. I don't want Tkachuk or his shenanigans and the Pens don't need him. I was simply discussing value in a trade.

I agree with this, don't think the flames would do a 1 for 1. Tkachuk would be absolutely unreal on a line with Crosby. Would produce a lot more than he does on the Flames and would also help protecting our starts and 1st line against cheap shots. Our first can definitely use that physicality Tkachuk would bring.
