I’d say a first and a good bottom six winger on a cheap contract

Agreed. I'm not sure why Rielly gets so much hate on here (probably because he's a leaf and everyone hates the leafs and leaf fans). He can play 25 minutes a night against the opposition's top players, he's in his prime and his contract is very affordable (5 mill caphit but only owed 3 mill in actual salary after his bonus is paid out) and he's viewed by most with negative value!?!?

Biggest problem I see with the overvalue deals is people treat him like he’s signed for about her four years, him only having one year left is a big reason why he wouldn’t get proper value

Add in Adam Larsson and Tyson Barrie’s signing right then it’s a fair deal

His value that been reported is a 1st and a solid prospect. For example:

NYR: Rielly
Toronto: NYR 2022 1st, Tarmo Reunanen

I’m not saying this is trade but this is his reported value.

I mean I’d do that too I just think a good cheap bottom
Six player would be more useful for leafs right now. I’ve done jets first and Appleton in my Reilly deals

Not really, it’s because people don’t understand how actual player evaluations works. Full 1yr contracts holds value. The reason you are thinking of the worst case scenario and neglecting the best case scenario. Worst case Rielly doesn’t fit in and he doesn’t resign. Best case he exceeds expectations and resigns. Furthermore teams who trade for him probably wants him that next offseason similar to SJS with Erik Karlsson. Not saying their values are comparable but SJS has interest of signing him that offseason.

Not really as the Leafs success will be based on getting young players to come in and start providing them depth on their ELCs. If they get that they can spend more elsewhere to improve the team and get better deadline acquisitions.

This is the reason I personally dislike Lou and Hunter and their drafting really set the team back. Other than Brooks and Dermott we got zero players in the later rounds to provide an impact in their tenure as Leafs

Full one year does hold value, but not to the extent of someone with longer term. Also depends on the team acquiring him.
