Dallas does it if Jones re-signs otherwise they pass, that's a lot to give up for one year.

On the flip side, if jones agrees to an extension before the trade then dallas has to give up a lot more than that

why would they value a 2nd over a first? even if tampa won the cup and the pick was 31st overall its still better then any 2nd rounder, I know they say next yrs draft is deeper in terms of talents but thats also because half the players in this yrs draft didn't get a season the only way to improve your draft rank was WJ really so players had about 6-11 games to prove their worth. Next yrs draft is also just said to be deeper because of the 3 headed monster that headlines the draft "wright, lambert, savoie" which isn't even really 3 headed monster now, wright broke off from those 2 this season proving his dominance while savoie jumped between 3 leagues and wasm't really a standout player in any of them, and lambert had a decent season in the finish league but went quiet in both the u20 and u18 tournaments.

Hawks decline this. Strome is worth a 2nd and 3rd, Murphy easily a 1st. Hawks aren't giving up Murphy and Hamilton is hardly a replacement for Murphy. Hawks need more Murphy style of players, not more Hamilton style of players and certainly wouldn't give up a stay at home for another puck mover.

Koskinen posted better numbers than Korpi, don’t think the difference between Turris & Jenner is a first.

That’s just my opinion, I know a lot of oil fans on here are quick to trade Koskinen for anything.

foligno is much worse and just got a 1st and a 4th. korpisalo was incredible just last year and 1.7m cheaper than koski.

Korpi > Koski by a smallish margin, but Jenner > turris by a pretty large margin

because tampa might value a 28-31th OA less than a 35-40 OA depending on the draft class and especially considering the notion that next year is much deeper.

He’s never been incredible in terms of GSAx, benefited a lot from Torts system. When that system crumbles so does he (see this year)
With the money available coming into FA I don’t see the appeal of giving a first for Boone & a statistically worse goalie.
Don’t think it works but that’s my opinion

koski and korpi were really close this year, korpi has been great more recently than koski, and korpi is just 1 year removed from a fantastic season. i agree with you but hockey gms like holland will def pay for korpi

Koskinen has better numbers than Korpi every year from the past 3 years, better Sv%, better GSAx
Even Korpis “incredible year” he was statistically worse than Koskinen.

100% correct, the only thing better about Korpisalo is his contract.....and even then he's over paid. Koskinen isn't as bad as people think, its just his bad games (and every goalie has them) are really bad. Not saying he's a quality #1 but if he made 1.5-2 mil as a back up people would hold him in higher regard.

On the flip flip side, if Dallas picks up Jones it’s going to be damn near impossible to get Klingberg & Jones both signed to extensions next offseason.

That’s a lot to give up for one year of Jones OR essentially being forced to lose Klingberg.

For sure, would much rather stick with Koskinen and Turris than throw in a 1st to make that deal. If they Oilers are dumping Koskinen, it's to get a goalie that can play in a tandem in Smith. Not trying to get another back-up. And if we're spending a first, it's for a significant move, not a lateral move.
