Anyone would be mad not to accept Holl for a 3rd and a 7th.

Seems like everyone is saying EJ will waive his NMC, which makes it all but certain he won't be bought out. If that's the case then the Holl deal doesn't work and neither does the Coleman signing.

I'm more than fine with the Compher trade. I'd even take less.

Holl is worth more than that He is a decent D making only $2M and since the Leaf's need low cost players he won't be moved

EJ was bought out in this scenario, Im kinda on the fence about what should happen with him. Even if he does waive he gets injured all the time and if he goes down during the season then the Avs will have to go after a rental to replace him mid season

I am a bit worried about EJs injury history even if he does waive his NMC, im sort of sitting on the fence deciding whether Id rather keep him and hope he stays healthy or buy him out/trade him and use the cap space to get a more reliable (in terms of injury history, not in terms of actual play) D man

Being worried is certainly justified, but it just seems like the reality is that he'll be on the team next year. If they were going to buy him out, I assume they would just do it and not ask him to waive (which they seemingly did).

Here's to hoping the hockey gods recognize they owe the guy an injury free season!

I don't know too much about Compher, does he primarily play RW or C? Oilers are heavy at RW but have a definite need at 3C and would prefer a RHS. He'd fit the bill if he's good at faceoffs and defensive side of the puck, price is reasonable.

They CAN protect him but why would they? If he was selected he can just sign with who even he wants on July 1st.

Now Seattle also gets a window where they can negotiate with UFAs before July 1st
