The Vancouver trade just isn’t good. If you’re downgrading from number three overall to number nine you’re getting a prospect you want not one you don’t need in Rathbone. Buffalo has more than enough young defensemen already, and they’re about to draft Owen Power too. Too bad Vancouver doesn’t have a forward prospect worth going after, because they’re never giving up Podkolzin.

It's a fair offer for the Van deal. I think Van passes because they don't have enough prospects.

umm not really. They have Dahlin on the left and Henri on the right and thats it. Samulesonn is maybe good but hes a big lumbering D.
Dahlin/Power
Rathbone/Drysdale
whoever/Henri

thats a legit D in 3-4 years with a high end goalie.

LOL we don't need left d. Pick a better forward prospect, and let's never mention taking a goalie at 9 again.

Ahh. I see. Except our left side is dahlin, power (also lhd), Bryson (team really likes him), samuelsson, Ryan Johnson (recent first rounder), and most likely McCabe on a short term deal to show he can still play after an awful leg injury. Right side could use a prospect or two, but we need forward prospects more. This is a no brainer- take Guenther or Eklund at 3 and not take a goalie at 9 plus a d prospect that we don't need, like at all.

Getting another Hughes is intriguing, I would definitely mull over this proposal for a while. If you wanted a forward prospect instead of Rathbone I guess the only reasonable option would be Hoglander. If Vancouver feels they're giving up too much it might have to be Lind/Gadjovich + a pick or something.

Don't see the Ducks getting Eichel, not without help from another team. All they have to offer is Drysdale and Zegras, and word is they aren't willing to include either. I would look to Columbus, Calgary or, most likely, Colorado.

I think Van are pretty high on Rathbone and honestly Luke Hughes doesn't seem like that great of a prospect, nor is he an organizational need. We have a decent left defense and need defensive or all around dmen not offensive. I wouldn't be surprised if Hughes is there at 9.

I’d be very surprised if Hughes lasted beyond number five, or wherever New Jersey is picking.

since im one of the few canucks fans on this site thats not rock hard for hughes #2, id pass. Weird draft with low exposure, id rather have a lower pick and a player on the cusp of making the team than another lottery ticket

He may very well go before but why do people always think that organizations want to have brothers play together? People are always proposing deals to get the Hughes bros together and it just never happens. Like has it ever happened? The Sedin's but that actually made sense given they were twins and played cerebrally together. Teams just take the BPA or an organizational need. Not the brother of a player on their team.

Luke Hughes also happens to fit an organizational need for New Jersey anyway.
