I dunno if Staal and Koskinen work as an equal comparables. At least Staal was useful for Detroit. Koskinen has been pure sh*t in EDM.

The Jets would be better off keeping Appleton if Seattle doesn't take him.

Had a tough beginning to this year. Was top 12 in GSAx in 19-20 he’s not been terrible. He’s over paid, but by about 2M

He’s outperformed Korpisalo for 3 straight years, so you could say he’s worth around 2.8M

Bad contract, not an awful player.

If they protect Copp over him, they’ll lose him
If they plan to leave him exposed, that’s when the trade would make sense

If they trade Appleton, then they have to acquire another forward to expose that meets the NHL exposure criteria (they only have Appleton and Harkins who are under contract, fill the requirements and are unprotected). After spending assets on that, they then lose Stanley.

That means they lose Appleton & Stanley and whatever asset they spend to be expansion draft compliant. Not a good move whatsoever for the Jets.

Better to lose one asset than multiple assets for a defenseman on the wrong side.

Just looked it up, they have to protect Copp over Appleton. If they protect Appleton, then only Harkins fulfills the forward exposure requirement (Copp isn't under contract in 2021/22) and the NHL says you need two.

Jones plays both sides, Developed as a RD in Bako, Tippet just has a hard on for lefties on Left

Didn’t know they wouldn’t meet minimum exposure though, you don’t think they’ll sign Perraultt or someone to expose?

I guess if you value Stanley over Jones & a third then that makes sense.

I think Maurice also pitches a tent when righties are on the right and lefties are on the left. The only two that the Jets would want to sign would be Stastny or Perreault because if they don't get picked you are still happy to have them on the team. Then the question becomes if those players want to control their future or not? The alternative is signing a player that you might not want back in the lineup if he isn't picked.
