Malkin age is a big reason wild don't do this. They started the younger movement last year

Also Malkin's Health: His injury; recovery time is a big reason why wild don't do this either. It was reported he's going to miss significance time to start the season. If true, wild doesn't do this deal

Also not sure of Malkin's cap, but cap is already a problem for wild. So not that wild wouldn't do this because Malkin's amazing, unless cap goes up, wild are impossible position to do this deal

I more so see Pittsburgh not dumping a top forward during the remaining Crosby years. I'd prefer to work in some picks rather than just top prospects but the price for Guentzel would be high. That said we are pretty weak on LW and Guentzel is a top tier winger with 3 years of cost control through his prime years. You could do a lot worse than picking up a guy like him, even if the price is high.

SO we give up a blue chip d prospect that we got to shore up lack of depth on LD
    probably our best Goalie prospect
our top RW prospect and best prospect as a pure goal scorer which we lack
and a decent 3-4 line center who who is physical something we all lack
all to fill 1 hole on LW that we can fill via Free agency while not creating lack of depth everywhere else...

    Like a said easy pass.

I was more suggesting giving some picks in lieu of straight up those particular prospects, ie instead of Broberg offer a 1st. Personally I'm never too high on our goalie prospects seeing as we haven't had one turn out since Dubnyk who we drafted 17 years ago. I'm saying that giving a package for Guentzel is far from the worst trade proposal I've seen on this site, first choice should still be to get one of Palat/Killorn out of Tampa's cap situation.

Reality with free agency is while it all sounds well and good to fill through free agency, it's pretty rare Edmonton is able to attract high end UFAs that aren't a complete overpay. Guentzel scored at point per game pace last year, there are exactly 0 UFA forwards with 10GP that scored at that rate last season. There are only 4 who scored at 0.75PPG (Ovechkin, Landeskog, Hyman, Krejci). Hyman is likely the only one to change teams out of those, he will be in the same salary range as Guentzel but is a few years older and is a prime candidate to see the power forward production nosedive in his early 30s. Other than re-signing RNH, the only high end winger I'd want to target that would upgrade the Top 6 would be Hoffman.

or you can give up way less and target a killorn, palat, gourde from TB who needs to sheed salary vs selling the farm

That was the last sentence of the top paragraph. "first choice should still be to get one of Palat/Killorn out of Tampa's cap situation"

yes so theres no way they give away that much either in actual prospects or draft picks.
he will go for the bargains or free agency
