Kind of a waste to trade Holl for a lottery ticket and sign Martinez to 5 million

The problem is it will cost Wash something for Seattle to not take Vanecek, or Samsonov, if the trade is after the draft or it will cost more than Kerfoot for Seattle to not take Campbell, or Vanecek, from Toronto if it's before the draft...

Too much money for Coleman to play on the 3rd line. He should be in the top 6 if we sign him.

Agree. But Martinez is really good in big games. Toronto needs more of those type players...

Then keep Holl and sign him for 2.5 (he's 36)

Do they though - or do they just need to remain healthy for a series or 2?

Coleman wants to play in the States, most likely he ends up in Dallas

Too much for Coleman. If that’s what he costs, we stay away.

Martinez is great, I wanted him when he was on LA, but not a smart move going forward. He’s aging and we have young guys who will need more ice time soon.

Vanecek will probably be on the Kraken so a trade with them would probably need to be worked out rather than Washington. This deal may work though. I’m sure they’d like draft picks and Mikheyev could be flipped at the deadline 50% retained to a contender.

I definitely love Bozak, but I think I’d prefer Haula. Let me know if that’s crazy, but yeah, just personal preference for that one.

I Like Haula too, but idk what he brings, is it scoring?

I think he’s a smart player with good speed and a solid two-way game.

But I’m not sure on that lmao. I could be confusing him with someone else

2 years in a row, Last year was Muzzin and Reilly, this season injuries hit again, the first year was a rookie led team, 2 straight losses to Boston (Kadri suspension)

Agreed.

The Leafs were clear underdogs for the first 3 years. And still went 6 or 7 games against cup favourites.

Columbus was disappointing, but it was the first half year with a new coach and both teams were 8 and 9 in the standings. Pretty evenly matched.

This year was the only truly disappointing year imo. Blowing a 3-1 lead was terrible. Obviously a good team should be able to win with injuries, that’s a part of hockey, but to lose such an integral piece of your team in game 1 and then lose another integral piece on the blue line really sets a team back.
I’m not making excuses for the loss. They should’ve won. It was disappointing. But it’s made out to be like the Leafs have failed for 5 straight years when really only 2 of those years have been truly disappointing, IMO.
