Chicago doesn't want to give up Debrincat. He's by far their best prospect.

Chicago really needs a long-term answer to the left wing spot on the second line. DeBrincat is a very good prospect, no doubt. However, they have a cap crunch coming. Kruger's contract is an albatross to them. Chicago would hope to have him selected in the Expansion draft but LV would likely go for a cheaper and younger option. This is trade that allows Chicago to improve their team while giving them a chance to escape a painful cap crunch.

Kruger @ $3M cap hit isn't a dump scenario. It's not like Bickell at all. The bonuses aren't looking to be quite a bad as people were projecting and LV would DEFINATELY take Kruger if the Hawks don't protect him.

LV is not taking Kruger IMO. He's not at all what they have said they're looking for.

Given the other junk Chicago will leave unprotected LV won't have much choice. Will come down to Kruger vs Pokka

Jenner isn't a long term solution for Chicago's left wing issue. DeBrincat is their best prospect and Kruger is valuable to the team on the PK even with his bloated contract.

Plus, anytime you can get a player FOR ZERO ASSETS that plays routinely in the Olympics/World Cup/etc...you probably do it. Also, LV is required to take on salary. There are a lot worse options than Kruger to get to the CAP Floor. They can't all be ELCs.
