I dont think the pens or caps make it. But i do think everyones sleeping on philly after this season. They certainly have the assets and cap space to go out and get a RD1 and with that that team is dangerous.

I think the Penguins and Capitals will be super aggressive this offseason to go on one last run with Crosby and Ovi

Agreed about the Flyers

I dont think the pens goaltending will hold up though they will most certainly try for one last run with sid malkin and letang. The thing about washington is theyre a top heavy team but theyre top is getting thin, coupled with question marks in net (though i really think samsonov and hart will bounce back) and i dont see them making it in a stacked metro and stacked east.

I think both of them get veteran goalies

Pittsburgh gets MAF
Washington gets Andersen

They both got to figure something out

1. I think it can happen that he stays there but
2. Idk if he has an nmc or an ntc buymt if not i can see him threatening to retire if hes traded to pittsburgh.

Well, since the team with the most points wins the game, I don't know that there is anything more important when someone can score THAT MUCH. If we were talking about a guy who is a defensive liability, or could only skate in one direction, even with his point production, MAYBE you have a case. But he kills penalties, plays against the toughest competition, is on the top power play, and has similar assists to his goals. Judging him to be a 2C and Mathews/Tavares to be a 1C is just bias.

Wouldn't McDavid & Draisatil have won multiple stanley cups by now then? Team that outscores the other team wins the game. You also have to worry about stopping the other team from scoring. Zibs has demonstrated he can put up points. He has not demonstrated he can hold his own defensively against other top centers. Right now, he's best as a 2C who can produce & doesn't have to face other team's best defensive matchups. It would be in the Rangers to get a center that can play above Zibs in a lineup, and let him do his thing as a 2C.

I think I was pretty clear in the beginning about what I believe is needed to win a cup. Depth, defensive soundness and goaltending. So, you're lost if you're thinking I'm saying that scoring alone wins a cup. You said that Zibanejad isn't a 1C and I've pointed out why I disagree. We would have made the playoffs this season over several teams, had the format been standard. Clearly the Rangers have holes to fill. However, a "1C" (especially Eichel) isn't one of them. On top of that I don't think that a missing player(s) is the main reason they're a ways away from a cup. I can bring your point into this as well, EDM has 2 "1C's" and barely qualifies for the playoffs. I wouldn't be mad if we found someone who deserved to play over Zibanejad, but I don't think this person is worth giving up high quality assents for, and I don't buy for a second that Zibanejad is not a top line center in the NHL.

You are the one that said points are the most important thing.

We know what you need to win a cup. A top line center is the most important part of the equation. I never said it's the only thing like you're implying. Every cup winner of the last 20 years has had one. From Point to ROR to Crosby to Bergeron to Toews to Kopitar to Staal to Datsyuk to Brad Richards. I think it's funny that one team makes the SC without one and now the whole formula changes. Even though Danault is one of the best defensive centers in the league.

Zibs isn't a 1C. Take off the homer glasses. Your team is going to get killed if he's your top center.
