Its gonna cost NAS more than that if they want to put Weber on LTIR and save the penalty. The strict minimum is a 2022 first (top 5 protect).

No reason to trade Weber, his contract drops to 3M next year and is just 1M for the following 3 years. Dirt cheap for a top pairing, reliable offensive and defensive defenseman. I'd definitely keep him instead of signing Reilly.

Its not about the actual dollars, its about the cap hit. Which doesn't go down. Therefore he becomes a bad contract. But also more appealing to teams who don't want to spend to the cap in real money. Aka Arizona, Ottawa, etc
